occassional carpentry work at my storage unit?

Check out how the others who have shops set up power them. You seem to indicate that they do it in the open, or at least open enough for you to know.

Power by generator and needing to do it outside vs in the unit would be my issues.

I don't know if the owners of the house sold their land to the storage facility and had them build around the house or what. Hopefully the owners don't live their. I doubt it though because it's a huge storage facility with many locations around. I just find it kind of strange.

Is this in Alief, by any chance? If so, what you describe has been going on on that property for years. But even if not, the type of work you describe is pretty standard for anything but the most pristine properties, they are just by nature quasi industrial.

Would it be cheaper to install a power inverter on your car/truck? It would certainly be quieter than a portable generator.

Just an update: I think one of the office workers lives in the house that's on the property. I think I'm going to find another unit that's on a different area of the property. I've done some carpentry but I think the noise of the generator is eventually going to make the people in that house mad at some point. I'm pretty much screwed if I have to move a bunch of 200 pound plus items to another facility so I don't want to risk it. To me it's kind of odd that there would be a house inside of a storage facility.
