On Saturday I rented a self-storage garage, $225 per month for a 15'x48. Issue was the storage facility was designed for maximum capacity, as a result I couldn't actually back a 42' RV into the unit.

On the other side of town is a self-storage center. Called and the very nice lady told me they had one outdoor space available. I asked about the ability to get a large trailer into the space; she stated all their outdoor spots are designed for drive in and back in. I asked how much and she stated $32 per month, cash or check. I about fell out of my chair and said I'll take it.

Met the lady and her husband at 4:30pm on a Saturday. Not a property manager. Not a call center that gives one codes but no agent on site. Entering the facility I could not believe it. Super clean, spaces very well marked and permeant cones placed to discourage parking in other spaces. Could not believe this space or facility.

Time to sign the paperwork. No ID requested, no proof of insurance. Funniest part, they used carbon paper for the contract, not sure I have seen carbon paper since the last century.

I asked the couple, who are in their 70's, why such a nice price and a super nice facility. Their response, we run a business to support the community, not here to squeeze the community. Further, the husband stated he liked having something to do daily (maintain the facility), rather than sit at home in retirement.

Was absolutely blown away by the experience. This business run like businesses use to in the 1960s- treating everyone with dignity and respect--not a trick farm. Warm people, great Americans, just trying to do their part to be "producers" in our nation.

Yeah, very rare find for sure!

Unfortunately, everything around here is now "corporate" owned and getting expensive.

Local Veterinarians and Local Dentists are all being bought up by corporate conglomerates. A decade or two ago it was funeral homes.

Did I mention prices are obscenely high, with no remorse. A shrug of shoulders and "it's corporate pricing, we don't set pricing here".

Glad you found a great place and an even better deal !

We have been paying $65.00 a month for RV storage near downtown Salt Lake for 14 years. We just got a notice it will be raised to $86.00.It was owned by a retired guy as well. I am wondering if he has passed on and his kids took it over. It is just a fenced gravel lot-nothing fancy. The good thing is the land is useless for anything else-due to its shape, so I expect to stay a RV storage lot.

Finding any space under $100.00 a month is very rare.

The first lease on my commercial storage unit (my “shop” a 20x42 unit with 100A power and lighting) was $450/month in January 2020.

It was acquired by “Private Equity” a few months later and they sent out an immediate increase to $650/month.

I’m now paying $1150/month and I expect it to go up this year.

Was your copy of the contract on goldenrod? :ROFLMAO:
Never heard of goldenrod before- a google search returned this:

Goldenrod (Solidago) is a versatile medicinal herb known for its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and diuretic properties, commonly used to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs), kidney stones, and seasonal allergies. It effectively reduces sinus congestion, acts as an antiseptic for wound healing, and provides antioxidants like quercetin.

My weed control guy still uses carbonless receipts, down at the bottom it says who gets which copy.

White - office
Goldenrod - customer
pink - remittance

For some reason goldenrod is entertaining.
