Obesity

Zing...more like I type very quickly, autocorrect is more annoying than helpful, and I don't treat BITOG posts like I'm handing in a term paper. ;)

Where would that be? Just asking for a friend ;)

The food you need to survive, and the food you want, are very, very different things. In quantity, type, and frequency.

If that were not the case, you would not have the problem.
Yes, however food can't be avoided, unlike alcohol, drugs, tobacco etc, which are not a part of my daily routine.

I agree - and in that case, food is different than other addictions in that complete abstinence doesn’t work well.

But what you crave and what you need are different. So, if you are addicted to the craving, then, yes, it is a form of addiction.

Advertising is aimed the lowest instincts, drives, and emotions. And the average bear gobbles it up. Incorrigible and unfixable. Just do what the ads suggest. There's a twofer or a discount coupon for a "cheap meal." Do that as often as you can. And add a side of statins, blood pressure meds, blood thinners, insulin secretagogues, insulin, probably a proton pump inhibitor, and every other drug that will prolong unbridled consumerism of deleterious foods. Having a stomach stapled is easier than putting the fork down and making smart choices. Luckily, your healthn insurance will pay thousands every month to keep you alive for more milking. And if you don't have coverage, don't worry. It'll all be over soon.

Do we not need to have access to food in order to live? @#18FAN ? This is not the case with other addictions.
Yes but all are choices we make sure I want the bag of donuts but not my choice I'm gonna make had to start to think that way say 10 years ago going down a slippery slope eating garbage. I have changed an entire lifestyle down a near 100 lbs and won't go back and have lost friends sad to say over it.
Im not to say now I'm some kind of saint I for one show and many see all the Craft Beer I drink and enjoy it it's my biggest downfall it's one thing I occasionally enjoy kind of a 90 10 rule.
I'm just saying you are not the first person down the same path and learning discipline is the only way because everyone runs out of motivation. Discipline could be I'm gonna get that walk, run, ride, swim or lift in even after 9hrs of work, I'm going to try get that 8hrs of sleep I'm gonna meal prep every day so i know exactly what's lunch so I don't have stupid idea of running to McDonalds. The discipline of consistency day in and out makes better choices in long run , which has worked for me. After a year or two it just becomes a lifestyle knowing it's what you fall back to even if you enjoy the other things occasionally.

All true and because it comes down to motivation, consistency, and self-control, or in one word, DISCIPLINE, it's a failing proposition for most people who struggle with their nutrition and weight. Everybody is their own worst enemy.
