Thank you! This was 1 of only 2 vehicles we ever bought new...we've taken pride in it, although not many people were fans of Isuzu products, the 2 Rodeo's I've had have proven to be very stout, long lasting trucks.

Back in the '70's I had a Chev LUV truck made by Isuzu, drove it out to No. Eastern Wy. for a number of years deer hunting. There seemed there wasn't anyplace that little truck wouldn't go. Isuzu made some quality products IMO.

I been using NXT. It's easy on and easy off, looks good but don't last long. I been considering something else once I'm out of it.
I'm using Slick Mist for in between the waxing/polishing.
When I'm out of NXT, I might consider Nu Finish, the older bottled stuff, and continue to try the Slick Mist for the between maintainer.
Will consider it for the motorcycles too. I want something to last a little longer, easy on & off as I'm always behind when something needs a wax/polish job.

Cleaner waxes have polish in them, hence the cleaning action.

A wax is just an organic sealant that doesn't last very long.

The terms wax and polish are so misused that you need to drill down to specific detail or know the what product the person is talking about to determine what it actually is.


I don't even like the term "wax" because It's just too genereic. I prefer using selants, polishes, or AIOs.

When I bought my 98 chevy ext-cab Z71 truck new, I also bought a bottle of the GM cleaner wax. I've used this on the truck since new and my paint still looks new after all of these years. I recently discovered that this wax is made by meguiers so I'm sure its just their cleaner/wax in a different bottle.

Clay the cars once a year, and Collinite Insulator wax when time allows, period.

That's all my cars have ever needed. Applied thinly, it's easy on and off and a bottle lasts forever.

I've always used Nu Finish, because it's super durable. But now I have a white car--which I've never had before--and using Nu Finish is a PITA. It's too hard to tell where I haven't removed all the wax, because it matches my paint perfectly. I wish it had a little color to it.

i still remember back in the 70`s the nu finish auto junk yard commercial. it was a supper faded/hazy black car, and they put some on the hood and wa-la!

This is a toughy. I am happy to see that you like Nu Finish so much but there are a few things about the product that I personally didn't like.

On the Polish 16oz liquid.

I have used this stuff since the early 90's and though good for water beading, it is a PITA to get off the black trim. I mean it stains pretty bad. It also is very easy to over apply causing for allot of powder residue which creates more work to clean up, even with micro fiber towels.


The "Cling" spray wax:

I didnt' like this stuff either. On a Red car it streaks like a Mutha and is a PITA to wipe off unless you instantly wipe it off.

Also, with the Volvo, (nice car by the way) you only washed that car 4 times in 3 months?? So it must not get very dirty, which may contribute to the enhanced duribility. I live in an agricultural area where bugs are flying all over the place. You have to wash your car all the time here and keep allot of wax on the car so the bugs wipe off easy. I also live in the Desert where 120F + temps are common.

Of Note:

While in College, I did a thesus in 1992 on Polishes for Autoes, where I tested the top polishes/waxes of the era they included:

1) Nu Finish
2) Turtle Wax 2001
3) Mothers Carnuba Wax
4) Mequiers Cleaner Wax
5) Zymol liquid

Of the 5 in my 6 mont study of having painted panels sitting outside in the sun, and rain, etc the Nu Finish was the clear victor. How much that says today?? May be a different story.

If you find a product you like USE IT and don't let anyone steer you away.

I'll just throw in my two cents on Nu-Finish and be on my way. It has been a great product for my cars for several years. I buy more every summer. It lasts a good while for me, is easy to put on, and is not crazy expensive.

I don't use Nu-Finish, but it's strange how people get such different results with it. Could it be the liquid vs the paste?

Love it! Makes this truck SHINE and proud to say this truck has no visible signs of oxidation/rust, etc. This truck has been driven off-road a LOT, lives down a 10 mile dirt road and has been/traveled all over the country.



Think I've posted in other threads with you about synwax and couldn't agree more. Easy on easy off and the the results are absolutely superb. Your truck looks fantastic!

Eons and eons ago, I remember reading a Consumer Reports article that said the Nu Finish paste works better than the liquid. I don't know if the formulations have changed since then.
