Using cell phone while driving makes driver as dangerous as drunken drivers.

Actually it makes them more impaired than drunks... According to the study. The drunks didn't crash.

It also goes on to say this:

"Cell phone use is far from the only distraction for motorists. The researchers cite talking to passengers, eating, drinking, lighting cigarettes, applying makeup and listening to the radio as the “old standards” of driver distraction."

So, I guess that means that any who would condemn the cell phones use while driving have overcome the "Old Standards of Driver Distraction" (see above quote).
How long before the cell phone becomes the old distraction?

Thanks George for helping me prove a point.

This is just like Bell Bottom Jeans... Wear em while you can NTSB, They'll be out of style soon.

As for the facts I believe that I have posted links already and if you can't figure out how to use them then it makes what your posts have been understandable.

cuda cuda cuda, Where can I begin? I mean you no harm here. You brought up your daughter, perhaps you should turn her in for her transgressions against the law.

Secondly, I have not asked you for a link, that is unless you and George are one in the same?

So lets stay on topic, OK?

Cheers, Jim

Ummm..I know this may be difficult...but...other factors like wearing seat belts and safer cars and reducing blood/alcohol apparently are outweighing the dangers of texting. Now on the other hand if texting was the "only" thing causing accidents..duuuuhhh.

Maybe you weren't being serious..I hope that's the case.

No, it isn't.

While deaths and serious injuries are down (due to gov't regs) small incidents are increasing, I would bank on it that many of these are a result of irresponsible drivers on their phone or texting. My own personal experience jives with this, I had so many close calls with, yep folks jawing on their phone or looking down (texting) over the past 5 years, while before this I don't remember any number to speak of...coincidence I think no.

If people were more responsible and thoughtful of other drivers they wouldn't be looking for more regulations. Blame it on the me generations.

Well no matter how much this is cussed and discussed in the end more than likely there WILL be a ban on the use of cell phones in vehicles, no matter which way you fall on this issue. And the outcome will be that we'll all be safer for it.

This is my opinion, whether you like it or not is of no concern to me. You will not change my mind and seeing as I have not changed those who differ with my opinion, I could care less.

As long as the idiot stayes on his/her side of the road.

This thread has covered all points of discussion, and is going in circles. Plus, it's degenerated and is causing hard feelings among our members. Time to shut it down.
