I wanted a longer filter for my Suburban and purchased a WL10255XP. The indicated oil pressure went from 35-40 to 50-60. I emailed WIX and this is what they told me. So is this an immediate concern?

2008 Suburban, 5.3

57060 or 57060XP should be used, not the WL10255 with or without the XP.
The bypass valve in the WL10255 is 22 psi of differential pressure. The 57060 has a 12 psi bypass valve. The higher bypass valve in the WL10255 may be the higher pressure culprit. Install the correct oil filter (57060 or XP) and see if that corrects the pressure issue.

Yes. Change the filter. CQP 84060, MSL57060, and STP S10060Xl can all be easily found at one of your local parts stores.

At what oil temperature and engine RPM are those oil pressure readings done at? What oil filter was being used before the WIX XP? A higher oil pressure if the oil was the same viscosity at the same temperature with the engine at the same RPM would mean there was more oil flow at the location of the oil pressure sensor.

57060 or 57060XP should be used, not the WL10255 with or without the XP.
The bypass valve in the WL10255 is 22 psi of differential pressure. The 57060 has a 12 psi bypass valve. The higher bypass valve in the WL10255 may be the higher pressure culprit. Install the correct oil filter (57060 or XP) and see if that corrects the pressure issue.

With a bypass valve set to 22 PSI it shouldn't be opening unless you're doing a cold start at -25F with very thick oil and elevated engine RPM. The filter's bypass valve would not affect the engine's oil pressure unless it was opening for some reason.

The gallery where the oil pressure gauge is wouldn’t have changed size, so higher pressure means more flow all things being equal. Just a guess but maybe the smaller old filter was allowing the oil pump relief to open, reducing the flow. I don’t know if higher oil pressure within a normal range is a “ culprit” like they say, it seems like that’s better.

Old setup was Rotella T6 5W-40, AC Delco PF48. Now it is Mobil 1 5W-30, WL10255XP. Nothing else has been changed.

Regardless of temperature the oil pressure used to be right around the 40 mark. Maybe a tick above or below.

Now it's always much higher as shown. I can change back to a PF48??? I have one on the shelf.

Seems like an easy problem to diagnose.

Thinner oil should be less oil pressure.
Change out the filter and let us know

Well, I didn’t know it was a problem. Also won’t be that easy considering I don’t want to use any new oil. Not that big of deal but this is the worst vehicle I have to change the oil.

I'd be more worried running my fuel tank that low. Your oil pressure is fine. I've been running the longer 10255 22psi bypass filter on my 08 5.3l since 2010ish. My oil psi close to yours. BTW oil pump is crank driven 6.8gpm.
