Do you trust them, or not?

This is the same company that refuses to honor a measly $6 (Delvac) rebate. I somehow doubt they're going to run up and beg to replace your engine because "It's the right thing to do." The warranty 'fine print' is likely ten thousand pages long...

Puralator did the same with me on a rebate last year. I won't do rebates again with anyone.

Here is an example of XM paying out claims for their AV1 debacle.

They didn't get out of anything. People doing the O'Reilly buy one get one free only bought 2 gallons of oil, so they should not expect the rebate for 4.

Two points:

First, the BOGO is between me and O'Reilly. From XOM's point of view, this is exactly the same as a 50% off sale. I don't know the terms of O'Reilly's wholesale contract with XOM, but I suspect that, for all intents and purposes, the oil was bought and paid for long before I set foot in the store. XOM sold X bazillion quarts of oil to O'R. XOM should be willing to offer customer rebates based on those wholesale transactions. Period. AFAIK, my retail purchase price and terms of sale are irrelevant.

Secondly, I was referring to the absurd 4 month delay, not an outright refusal to pay.
(At the same time, multiple people, including myself, have wondered - not unreasonably IMO - if they had been ripped off. Happily, several very recent posts suggest that a second 'wave' of rebate checks has been released. I'm off to check the mail now!)

I don't have my receipt anymore, but my receipt only showed 2 gallons purchased, even though I bought an intact case.

And I do agree about the delay being [censored]. I waited far too long for my Mobil 1 rebates. But, they did honor a rebate that was not filled out completely.

When I bought mine it showed 4 gallons, then 2 returned, then those 2 sold @ $0. Worked as I got the $14.
