Not much talk about Mobil Clean 5000

I just put did a change of Mobil Clean 5000 in my 2003 4.0L Jeep GC. I do 5K OCI's and it was hard not to pass up the price at my local Walmart.

I've notice there's not to much talk on these boards about this oil. How does the Mobil Clean 5000 compare to Pennzoil conventional?

It was $1.25 cheaper for the 5qt jug and $1.00 cheaper for the 1qt bottle at my Walmart.

Was wondering about Mobil Clean 5000 too - I have 7 quartz of 10w30 in my storage, might give it a try in my Astro van. There seems to be little mention of it here.

don't take it to mean it's not a good oil

oh, it consistently gets mentioned. in the dino lineup it probably gets mentioned as much as anything behind Pennzoil conventional. actually, I would like to purchase two indentical cars - once a month switch them amongst the same two drivers. one car always gets dino. the other always gets synthetic. run them both until there is an engine problem. I would not bet more than a dollar that there would be much difference - as long as they were naturally aspirated engines. (non turbo)

what if you did both on 15k OCIs?

but on a 7.5k or shorter OCI, you'd probably be right

I noticed that Mobil Clean 5000 does not really get mentioned on this board that much. Its surprising as well because I believe its the cheapest name brand (non SuperTech) oil at Walmart. I am currently running it in my Stratus because I dont normally run long oci but I dont feel like doing much anything outside in winter. It seems like an alright oil, although I like Pennzoil conventional more.

probably same stuff as super tech...the jugs are almost identical...5000 is conservative for normal driving IMO

I use it on my girlfriend's Sentra and it's been good. She hardly drives and if she does, it's urban city short trips. About 2,000 miles in 6months. So the $11/5qt Mobil Clean 5000 (or 6 months) is perfect for her.

Nothing wrong with the Mobil 5000 but for BITOGERS the extra $1.25 spent on the 5 qt jug of Pennzoil Conventional is a no brainer. Why? It lets us sleep better at night, improves our concentration and makes life more enjoyable.

Not any more. WPP or WNE on the bottom and the jugs don't look the same.

Agree though, as with all the name brand dino's it will be good to go for 5k. My one complaint, no 5w20 MC5k jug at Wally. Makes MC Syn Blend the better everyday value in that weight.

I found the Pennzoil conventional smoother and providing better gas mileage in my Yaris, but when I got in an impromptu street race - it fell apart. The MC5000 seems to shear down a bit and tends to get stuck rings more - but seems to hold up better to "thrashing" or performance driving. They are ALL a compromise. No one "great" 5w30 I've found YET for me! Maybe the MTD Snowblower API-SJ at Lowes'?

Ha ha lets see a 'stang hit 60 in 8 sec with a 1.5L engine in it. I was born a half century back in the last millennium and ive had more high performance cars than you could ever drool at, including: 428 SCJ, 396 chevelle, 327 Vega, 93 lincoln Mark Vii dohc v8, and numerous fox body, junk 'stangs.
