Tundra with a 4.7

I have a fix for ya. Sell that tundra and buy yourself a Ford, GMC, or Dodge and you won't have jack with fixing those foreign cars all the time.

Pick your poison fellas, it's all in what you choose that'll determine your happiness.

They've been making professional tools since the turn of the last century. I don't see how the prestige could ever wear off.

The problem with that is you have to shoot their kids too. Otherwise they'll grow up and design junk like that.

A top-three question I ask when deciding on a used vehicle:
"If xyz breaks on this, would I mind fixing it?"

I don't mind replacing a starter.
I do mind replacing a starter with a replacement shop time of 6 hours.

I've had friends not buy certain vehicles because, when they popped the hood on it, and I saw the engine was really stuffed in there, I told them don't ask me to help fix it when it breaks.

You can only polish them for so long before they end up looking as ratty as all the rest.

To be fair it is pretty easy to pull a cab if you have a lift.

Pretty easy as long as the body mounts are not rusted.

Comedic gold right here.

Must be a regional thing, never seen that here.

Yes, I believe it is. It turns a pretty simple job into a real pain.

It's likely that all the Denso starter in that 2uz-fe needed was a solenoid plunger, and contacts. We could be here typing all day, mentioning vehicles from all makers who have poor designs from a parts replacement standpoint.

And it is easier to work on the engine.

That was good for a laugh. I made a good living at one time, rebuilding Ford transmissions, replacing GM steering racks and intake manifold gaskets, Chrysler (actually Mitsubishi) cylinder heads.

I hate any type of mechanical device that is designed in such a way that makes replacing parts a nightmare. I never understood this. I could see it if it was something that never breaks, but what mechanical device does that?

I own a TON of Snap-on tools, Dare i say.....Probably own more than you! While I like my SO tools, I'm NOT in love with them.
My other tools....Cornwell, Mac, Matco, Proto, Martin, Par-X, OTC, Packard, Craftsman, Channel-Lock, Knipex, Vise-Grip, Power-Probe, VIM, Kent-Moore, Starrett, Brown & Sharpe, Vaughn, Buffalo, Gearwrench, Fluke, (USA made)Crescent, Ingersoll Rand, AirCat, (Corded)Milwaukee, Vacula, RobinAir, & Ammco are all good professional grade tools & equipment.......VIM & Gearwrench not so much but they get the job done.

I see mechanics buying Snap-on Adjustable Wrenches, Locking Pliers, Hammers, Air Tools, Precision measuring tools, Multimeters, Jacks & shake my head knowing they got shook down because a brand name.

Your most valuable tool is between your ears! Hand/Power tools & equipment just makes the physical aspects of the job easier.
Most Snap-on diagnostic equipment is pretty nice & am partial to their Scan Tools & Scopes, They bought SUN in the '90's & cornered the U.S. Automotive Scope market for a long time until PC based scopes became mainstream (Pico).
