I've laid on frozen ground hitting those drums trying to get them to free up with just a rachett strap. Not particularly fun.

Our radio was smooth, rounded on top with the big dial, but no clock.

Though phones were certainly around, we didn't have one until I was in the 5th grade.

Our refrigerator was shorter, and it, too, was rounded on top. When you pulled on the handle to open the door, it pivoted on the bottom, manually releasing the latch on the door.

Tiny white gas stove with oven in the bottom.

Did I mention I walked a mile one way in the freezing snow to school every day. Yes, in the summer, too.
