Ever since I put Bilstein struts (very firm ride) on my CRV about 5 years ago, I have been finding many small squeaks, chrps, and rattles. Most of them I have tracked down and fixed (eg. creaking sway bar end links, bad motor mount making a scraping noise on acceleration, loose overhead map light rattling over bumps). I've tracked down and fixed 90% of the loose parts but a few are still driving me nuts. I suspect the current remaining small noises aren't dangerous and some people tell me to just turn the radio a little louder but my "gotta track it down" attitude won't let me do that. Do any of you have the same "gotta track it down" attitude?

Dude, I grew up on 60's Mopars and pickup trucks. If it doesn't rattle, it isn't RUNNING. Oh, and if its a Ford pickup then it has to squeak too. Rattling alone isn't good enough

But if my SRT or Ram 1500 ever develops a rattle, yeah it would bug me. Even the 99 Jeep doesn't rattle. That seems to be one of the things they pay more attention to nowdays. Probably adds 200 pounds to every vehicle to mask those rattles. :-/

I don't know if your CR-V has the same suspension as my Integra, but I remember having an issue where my suspension would creak/groan all the time and I ended up replacing nearly every suspension part until I finally figured out what it was. Turned out to be the upper control arm bushings that were creaking. Had the control arm replaced and the noise went away. Now it's starting to do it on the other side of the car. Drives me crazy! It does it more when the weather's cold.

Some silicone grease on the rear hatch weatherstrip helped some squeaks in my CR-V. I also have replaced squeaky sway bar links.

I hate squeaks.

What year CR-V? There are a bunch of known problems that cause various noises on the CR-V, but they are year-specific.

I'm the same, but more with respect to interior squeaks and rattles. Something like the F-150 is supposed to be a little noisy, especially with stuff in the box. An interior dash squeak is unacceptable, though!

A quick looks shows me at least six TSBS. Haven't checked HSN yet.

When I get a chance I'll compile what I find and post for you.

That's not exactly Honda's historical strong point. Engines that run forever- sure. But they're not exactly Benz-like when it comes to tight, quiet, and rattle-free chassis.

A browse through my collection reveals at least a dozen mentions of various kinds of noise. Some aren't applicable to you.

TSBs:
03-049: Brakes click when first moving in forward or reverse
04-005: Rattle/growl/grind from right-side or from A-pillar when turning left
04-006: Rear brakes grind
04-068: Window grinds when going up and down
04-070: Noise/vibration when accelerating
05-073: Squeak/rattle noise from rear of interior when going over bumps
06-054: Engine growls when running
07-024: Rear diff moans

Honda Service News:
Sept/03: Rattle/buzz when accel/decel with A/C on
Mar/04: Grunt/groan when vehicle first begins to move
May/04: Clicking/ratcheting noise during hard right turns
Jan/06: Wind noise from roof rack

There may be even more, but Honda doesn't often say "noise" consistently when it comes to various noises, making it hard to search without a VIN; I haven't got a Techinfo subscription at the moment and don't feel like spending my $20 on somebody else's problem.

Squeaks and rattles bug me because they make a car feel like it's old and beaten up, even if it's actually in good condition.
By my count my old car has 6 sources of interior squeaks and rattles. Some were fixed, some I know what they are, but one of them is a mystery. It's over on the passenger side where I can't poke around while driving. I guess I need to be a passenger to figure that one out.

I had repeated problems with a rattling cover on the instrument panel. The inside was lined with foam which has disintegrated. The screws were as tight as I was willing to torque them into plastic. I put cork washers under the screws to fix it, but that has lifted the cover higher than it should be. It's better than hearing it rattle.

The weirdest one is my ECM. I think it's actually the EPROM's plastic chip carrier wiggling around in it's socket. I have a couple theories why this is probably my fault.
I've never had it fall out, it's just noisy. If I push it down it shuts up for a few days. This is the most annoying sound in the car.
