Ok its not grinding noise. Its a rumbling noise.

Oil weight? Temp? Engine? Miles? General condition?

Cold weather tends to bring out bearings and bushings that are getting a little old. The extra clearances from the temps causes the additional noise until things warm up and expand.

My thought is that one of the bearings/bushings for a/c, alternator, etc is in marginal condition and causing the noise, and yes it could happen on both engines at the same time

Don't forget that the waterpump has a bearing as well and if you are lucky, that's buried under the timing chain cover!
