If the above doesn't work go to HP's Website and re-install the driver for your laptop. It's fairly easy as I have an HP Pavilion dv9009us and I've had to re-install drivers a couple of times. I would highly suggest that while you're on HP's website that you should go to the drivers download page and install all of the new drivers anyway. Any more questions just pm me.-Malcolm

i don't see anything for audio .http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=385172&lang=en

Do you have an Intel or an AMD Processor? Your model came with both makes as an option.

I doubt this is it...but check your FUNCTION keys, e.g. F8 toggles the sound off/on for my current laptop (ACER). It would be nice if it was that simple, so I thought I'd throw it out there.

The latest Windows Service Pack killed my audio driver on my laptop, and the company that made the sound device is no longer in business and does not plan on supporting the new SP.

Windows says they are working on it, but they say for now uninstall.

I say re-install the driver.
