I wished the Olympics would be in Chicago in 2016 but when you look at it realistically, their $4 billion budget cannot be taken seriously.

Oh, well. Looks like I'll be in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 (starting to save money now).

It is really a shame. The polls of residents didn't seem like they were very interested in paying for much in taxes either. It would have been good for the region including Milwaukee, and might have finally gotten some progress on improved rail transportation around here.

Good is right.

It would go WAYYYYYYY over budget and who would be stuck with the cost? Guess.

Who would benefit from it and who would pay for it? Guess.

That is barely the tip of the iceberg.

We keep hearing about how great the Sydney games were for the economy...

reduced rail services to rural areas, reduced rural road funding, all so that the flagship would look pretty.

Better off not getting them IMO.

"In public, in private, it's hard to get it right." You guys might want to check out Annette Bening's interview on "The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer" for October 2nd if you get the chance. I'm certainly not insinuating anything about the opinions you've shared, I just think you might find it interesting. That's all.

"Everybody's a critic" as they say...

Senator Burris is already a gold medalist in the blame games. I won't post a link but if one searches the news it's out there.

His term can't end too soon, and I'd say that regardless which party claims him.

Yeah really. Who cares about the Olympics? I can think of a billion more important things this country should be focused on.
