hello all,
According to North American importer Blauparts, Ravenol EFS was not popular and will not be imported. After some discussion claiming that they have other brand with RBS0-2AE approval, well, they dont have anything. They will import it again but people need to ask for it and 1 person is not enough.
FYI, EFS is PAO based true full synthetic oil. Other brands offered in NA are not full synthetics and with over 10% NOAK.
let's try to get this oil back.

rbs? is that the volvo spec? if you're concerned about not having the oem spec'd oil if still under warranty I think motul makes one with it. If out of warranty don't worry about not having it and use a good euro 30 like M1 Esp.

Just use ESP X2, it's probably better anyway. Or even better, a 30 as Javier mentioned.

Reach out to @High Performance Lubricants and see if they’ve got an oil that satisfies that spec. I’ve got data that shows Ravenol isn’t anything special, especially for the price. There’s plenty of data here that HPL is special. And it’s 100% made right here in the USA!

I still have warranty and don't want to play that game. Motul Specific RBS0-2AE is not Group V oil same as LM, Rowe, Castrol and others. IT was importers fault not promoting that oil and tell me which Volvo owner changes oil outside dealer network.

if made in USA, then it doesn't mean is good. At that price, Ravenol was cheaper. show the data that it is "special"

Promoting an oil won’t make a lick of difference if people aren’t buying it anyways. Why waste money on something that doesn’t have a big market to start with?

I understand warranty concern, but the only way you’d need a spec oil for warranty is if you expected an oil-related engine failure. I guarantee Dr. Rudnick knows more about oil than the Volvo engineers who accepted what Castrol provided when they were the only oil that met the spec. Sorry it doesn’t work out for you, but you can still pay too much at the dealer and let them worry if the oil met the spec… 🤷‍♀️

i can still buy Rowe, LM, and Motul but they are NOT true synthetic. F Castrol
Well, a “true synthetic” solution has been provided, and a 100% domestic one at that. If a “true synthetic” is sooooo much better that you felt yelling at Blauparts was worth trying to make them continue importing Ravenol (which isn’t worth the money IMO and in my results), then you should feel pretty safe that you wouldn’t have a warranty claim running a “true synthetic” oil that met the Volvo spec, even if it wasn’t officially approved. Sorry I couldn’t help with your quest to obtain unicorn tears. Best of luck. Out ✌️

Since Volvo back spec'd a 0W-20 from the originally recommended A5/B5 5W-30, I've used the Ravenol you mention 2 different times in the Volvo in my signature, Motul once, and Valvoline Euro 0W-20 once (which is recommended for the Volvo spec but not approved), but the indy Euro garage I take the Volvo to used Liqui Moly Top Tec 6000 which is an ACEA C5/C6, API SP, ILSAC GF-6A oil with BMW Longlife-17 FE+, Jaguar / Land Rover STJLR.03.5006, MB-Freigabe 229.71/229.72, and Opel OV 040 1547 - A20 certifications. I do not see where it specifically has the Volvo VCC RBS0-2AE certification, but it seems like a high quality oil. The car currently has 54,000 miles on it and I have been doing 5K OCIs.

*I do see press releases on line that say this oil does meet the Volvo cert, but I do not see that certification on the actual oil container or LM's website.

LM Special Tec V 0w-20 is the vcc-rbs0-2ae oil
Top Tec 6600 is also not full synthetic

It is special. Do your research and compare.

Then, do a search on this site, with UOAs on how the oil has held up.

Here is a UOA on HPL that was run over 30,000 miles. Still holding up well.

I’ve toured the plant, know the owner. You won’t find a better oil.

Mopar engine is low power and not stressed motor. Website is broken and data sheet page is asking for credentials.
Also missing data about 0w20D, etc, etc not much info and incomplete datasheets which i found on the different website. Called their HQ and not much help. I was told send email but received number to the boss. Now waiting for call back.
