For those who don't make it over to AutoGen ..err..we have a new infidel to slay for this man's poor treatment.
The real cause of his anxiety and pain.

Can you explain that in a little more detail? When exactly would cause the "VII fall out"

VII will fall out of solution if mixed with certain esters from other additves or oils added also some PCMO if made from disolved VII may have some un disolved VII in them, in this guys case perhaps a problem with the oil and additves pushing out sticky VII or not.

I'm not sure Bruce isn't right...I've heard of Amsoil gelling like this when mixed with Marvel Mystery Oil.

I frankly don't understand the idea of doping a fully formulated oil either, since add packages are carefully balanced to begin with.

Gary thanks for the update to this thread.
Here it is for anyone who missed the link:

I had a Milodon oil pump pick fail due to a missed welding step at their factory. The result of this failure is over $2,000 of engine damge due to ZERO oil pressure.

Seems like the additives are in the clear now.

Well, I think that the lesson is not to shot from the hip when you're upset about something. Just like the boss or salesman ..or warranty guy when they ask you if you did anything different when something went wrong ...whatever that thing is it's "it".

"Well, did you do anything different?"

"Well
dunno.gif
I flatulated in the cockpit."

"THAT'S IT!!! (insert supportive spin)"

A mechanic in the GM shop I worked at warned me against oil additives, and shared a personal experience he has with a customer's car. It was in Wyoming in January, if that gives you any idea of the temperature. (BRRRRR). The braniac customer just dumped a bottle of STP oil treatment into the car, got in and started it. About 5 seconds later, oil pressure (normally very high at cold startup) dropped to 0, the idiot light came on and the damage was done. After removing the pan, my friend found a brown 'glob' all over the pickup screen, extending up inside the pickup tube. The moral of his story was that if you insist on using an oil additive, warm up the additive, warm up the engine and if possible, drizzle it in slowly while the engine is idling. IMO, cold temperatures and viscosity improvers don't mix.

still would like to know what the "jelly" was in the oil filter? air drawn in by faulty oil pump weld and mixing with oil into froth?
442 used the right oil for breakin on a flat tappet cam engine....one of these new SM oils would kill a new flat tappet cam

FYI this is only if using an STP type product that is very thick. LC20 will not do this...give some to mechanic and let him see what he thinks. Do not lump LC20, AutoRX, and other quality products in with STP junk.
