I've looked almost everywhere in the Northeast for this oil but none seems to be around. The only place I found it ws in a Walmart 5W30 SL designation for $1.52. Not quite the 49 cents I'm seeing from out west but......

Worth taking a shot on this oil for a 2005 Toyota Matrix 1.8 1zz? (15k on it) Even with the SL markings? Next choice would be the Havoline but even that seems to be hard to find lately....not as tough as Chevron but still not as plentiful as Mobil products.

How do these 2 compare or stand up to the Exxon Superflo as far as Moly and additives etc?

My WalMart stopped carrying CS a while ago, but there are a few q in an ajacent isle. Havoline is sold-out for a while, only SAE 30, and I needed some more CS, same thing...ha ha private stash right at WalMart. All the Havoline is long-gone and nobody knows/buy Chevron here, I guess. SL oil is fine. If you want something good for winter try Havoline Synth...Advance Auto usually has it. Worth the price if you only need 4. Some of my cars take 10 quarts by the time I fill it and top-off all the burning. I use CS and Havoline sometime mixed with Delo, for Euro cars. Strait CS/Havoline 5w-30 is hard to beat for Japanese cars.

The CS SL formulations were proven winners... just check the UOA section.

CS availability varies dramatically by region. We don't have it here in the deep South, either. Havoline, on the other hand, is available in every corner market and drugstore.

As for Superflo, all indications are that it's decent oil, but some folks don't like its elevated sodium content because it complicates oil analyses.

It's tuff to find Chevron Supreme on the East coast, even down here in FL. Exxon Superflo is a pretty decent oil. Some people say it is the same oil as Mobil 5000. I got Exxon for 65 cents after rebates so I can't complain. Chevron and Havoline (SM) both have more Moly than Exxon.

The Walmarts in my area only had 10w40 last time I checked.

Better go buy all the Wal*Mart Chevron cause it won't be there much longer. All the Wally World stores in the NE are discontinuing it.

Gentlemen,

Around here the only place you can purchase Chevron Supreme is at a Chevron gas station. Typically it is sold inside for about $2.25 per quart, with havoline around fifty or seventy-five cents less. There is a Chevron distributorship in Abingdon, VA, but I have never visited, although I might just to check it out.

Havoline, however, is available everywhere, and usually cheaper (around a $1.50 per quart at discount stores) than all other dino oils, except for Wal Mart Super Tech.

The Auto Zone a few blocks away from me is selling Exxon Superflow for $4.99 for a five quart jug.

Happy Thanksgiving Gentlemen,

Havoline 5/10-30's are getting hard to find here in the Rocky Mountain region as well, at least at Walmart's; not quite sure as to why. Havoline is one oil you "used" to be able to find anywhere.

I can only find CS at Checker's, and it's far from .49 per quart.

All known retailers in the lowcountry of SC and northeast GA quit stocking Chevron Supreme perhaps two years ago. I recently checked with a Savannah, GA Chevron distributor and he advised that he only stocked the Delo stuff, and only in “fleet quantities.” Further, he said if he were to order the CS for me the cost would be exorbitant. I abandoned any thought of using CS again.

To my displeasure I’ve noticed as of late Wal Mart’s inventory of Havoline (in all viscosities) has become unpredictable. Even the local Auto Zone and Advance Auto have been out of it the last two times I searched there. This isn’t good!

Yeah, actually anyone from the NE who are spending Thanksgiving weekend, say from Utah on to the Left Coast can get a score of Supreme for $0.49 and bring it back home...

...carry-on on the plane and get a cavity search from the TSA folks for free, too!

I don't get to use "on on" very often, anymore...

Is THAT redundant, too?

Cheers!

I'm sure once you explain the outstanding UOAs Chevron produces, the TSA will waive you through. I'll even pick you up at the Airport, as long as you don't mind a short wait in the parking lot while I change oil.

That's a 4-quart jug.

Bill in Utah,

Why do you have to tease us like that ???

Sorry.

It's hard to pass up a case of excellent oil for right around $6.
