Is it sound to believe that Pennzoil Conventional and Shell Premium Conventional are nearly identical? I am reasoning that Pennzoil Conventional is Pennzoils premium conventional line and same for Shell. Since they are sharing Shell's premium GrpII+/III bases there may be formula similarities?

Is there anything to said about Texaco Havoline/Chevron Supreme also? I hate to ask about Mobil Drive Clean and Exxon's Superflo ... considering the complexities of XOMs lubricant lines.

Well first of all, the oils that you mentioned are all fine oils having slightly different addative packages and any one of them can be used in the proper application without hesitation.

Secondly, IIRC, and others will correctly if Im wrong, is that the Havoline and Chevron Supreme are the same but the SOPUS(Shell Oil Products of the United States) products do differ in their add pkg's...In this order they are as listed: 1)Pennzoil conventional, 2)Quaker State Green Bottle(which you didn't mention), 3)Shell White Bottle. XOM products were at one time similar but differ now? Im not really sure! What I do remember is that the Exxon SupreFlo was more similar to Honda Genuine(at the dealership) then it was to the Mobil Drive Clean(now Clean 5000).

Pennzoil Conventional and Shell are not identical from what I have seen.

Both are great oils. YB is just a little "greater".

Oils from the same parent company are usually not the same. Different add packs, or levels of them, is usually the biggest difference. Check the used oil analysis section for proof.
