I wouldn't really call it an SUV/Crossover, when it only has 10.5 cuft of cargo capacity. I don't really see the point of this vehicle. You'd have to lay the rear seats down every time you go to Costco.

Ground clearance and all wheel drive is what I am after. My Scion is about worthless in 3 to 4 inches of snow...and when I have to drive 40 miles in 6 or more inches of the stuff....I need something that will get through it.

How about Subaru Forester then? It has more ground clearance than Juke, more cargo room, and looks better, IMO, and you can get one with a manual trans.

A Subaru Crosstrek, maybe? Good ground clearance, decent cargo area, and looks nice. Inside looks so-so. If there were a more poweful engine with around 200 hp, I'd seriously consider the Crosstrek for myself. As it is, it's a bit slow to keep up and catch up on our local on-ramps. If I were living in the boonies, I'd get the Crosstrek.

I hate manual transmissions. Any car with a stick on an everyday driver is a non starter for me. On a weekend car..not as big of an issue.

But I grew up with a dad that built performance automatics...must have rubbed off on me. lol

I may look into a Honda CRV. Might find a year old used one or something to get it down a bit in price. Nissan indeed has had issues with the JATCO CVT's from what I am gathering on the internet.

I was passed the other day by one with a big loud muffler and lots of stickers. I could tell it was a CVT by it's obnoxious noise.

It's ugly and expensive for what it is.

If AWD and ground clearance is all you care about, I'd look at Subarus, CRV, CX-5, Escape, etc. All offer utility, practicality, and more ground clearance than Juke. It's a niche vehicle. If you like it, fine. Most people either like it or hate it. There's not much middle ground.

BTW: according to Edmunds, your TC has a ground clearance of 6.3". The Juke is 7". Put some good snow tires on your TC, and it will be nearly as good a Juke with poor all-seasons.

Problem with the TC is that it has no traction control and hence gets stuck in everything because it just spins and spins and spins the tires. I have ice and snow tires...it only helped marginally. And edmunds gives my TC 5.2 inches of ground clearance.

You don't need traction control to drive in snow and ice if you have good tires and good driving skills, just $0.02.

I grew up in the NW going to the mountains all the time for skiing and been through some pretty gnarly weather back in the day. I never had a car with traction control, although I did have 4x4, but I didn't turn it on until I could go no further without it.

This is the first car without traction control I have ever had issues with in winter. All of my previous winter cars listed below gave me no issues and without snow and ice tires. This car however about gives me a panic attack trying to get around.
