My manual is recommending 30K change intervals on the air filter. I'm sure Nissan knows what they are recommending, but I've never gone that long in my life on an air filter. Usually, I did 15K or less.

Does Nissan have some sort of super special filter? Or are they just pushing the envelope? I'm itching to change it, but am cheap enough not to if I can really run 30K on the OEM filter.

For what it's worth, I know it's not a Nissan but my Acura recommends 30k as well. That's what I went with my last air filter and even at 30k it still didn't look very dirty. I went ahead and changed it anyways... My silicon in my used oil analysis always came back low to average, so I'm sure they know what they're talking about. This was with a Napa Gold (Wix) air filter as well. Now I'm running a Purolator Classic/Premium Plus from 1998 for 30k more miles. No worries

I can't tell about Nissan filter but If I were you, at every oil change, I would check the filter, clean it if needed and when there's too much dirt, just change it.

I used to change air filters every 10K or so. That was when I could buy them for one or two dollars, so it really didn't matter. Now that they are $10 to $15, I let them go to 30K. It's hard to fight my itchy fingers that want to replace them, but the air filters don't look so bad after 30K. It's not dusty where I drive.

The cabin filters are another matter.

Most car manufactures recommend 30k miles change interval for air filter. Depend on your location, if it is very dusty where you drive then 30k miles is the max interval assume that you're cleaning the air filter at every oil change. It's not dirty where I drive my cars, air filter still look decent after 35k miles such that all I need is clean it with a vacuum and re-used it.

30K seems to be a standard change interval for air filters for those drive on paved roads. When I lived in the country and drove dirt & gravel, I changed at ~15K. I change mine at 30,000 here in SW Florida and the filter still look like they could go out to 50,000 miles easily.
