I always heard it was the polar bear (ha-ha...."they're always laying on fat and will always find room for you") Seriously, I heard from Canadians that a moose can walk past you on one day and simply decide to kill you the next. The other expression I heard was, "Any day you don't see a moose is a good day." I think that one is vehicle oriented.
