Now that they've released the two new CS5 tires, to replace the CS4 tire (which has already been removed from the Cooper website)... and the CS3 tire, to replace the Lifeliner GLS, I wondered what would be next...


“The next new product Cooper will introduce will be a SUV crossover tire that will replace our current Discoverer CTS,” announced Jamieson. “Crossovers go back and forth to soccer, parks and vacations in the rain. That’s where this technology is needed.”

I do like a lot of cooper products!

Sad to see the CS-4 go. While I was never impressed with it's snow capability, it was an excellent tire in the rain.

I have discontinued coopers on my car now. And waiting for two more to come in.

I think they are highly underrated tires.

If the CS5 is better than the CS4, still US made, still a great performer, etc., then excellent...

They never got sold to the Indians, right?

Correct. The Indians started to lower their offering and Cooper backed out.

I've had the CS4 tires on my Vibe now for 30,000 miles now and I wouldn't purchase them again. Thy are HORRIBLE in even light snow and they tram-line like crazy on our highways around here. My wife won't even drive it on the highway as the longitudinal cuts in the road bounce the car all over. Never had this problem with other tires on the Vibe.

Should have ponied up the money and went with GY Assurance Comfort-Tread tires. Much better performance.

I agree on the snow. I drove a car with fairly new CS4s in the snow. You can turn decent. But starting or stopping the snow ... absolutely not.

He has since replaced the CS4 in the front with lifeliner GLS all seasons ... night and day. The car can actually move and stop in the snow.

However, my friend with the CS4s doesn't understand speed limits and driving 85 through pouring rain with standing water on the road is not out of the question for him. CS4s have done pretty well with that.

yep, me too.
have CS4 on my DD.
P.S. at 200 miles installed on my car i tested them on fresh snow...
wow. i was the econo-sedan passing everybody (at a safe speed)
one day before it was heavy rain.
pretty good for not broken in tires.
but yeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, boy i was bouncy on the road.
also more noisy than my former general altima hp
we'll see next winter for snow traction (if i can get rid of this "new car" itch)
