BEFORE VIEWING: I had a FUBAR cutting the can open and ended up having to cut the can open with some diagonal cutters. I tried pulling the filter out with some pliers before doing so, and it resulted in some bends and kinks in the metal tubing. This is not from the manufacturer, but from my clumsiness.

Picked this up at O'Reilly's to see how well they were made. I attached the pics. Seems like a decent filter minus whatever the black splotch on the media is. The pleat spacing could be a lot better, though. At least it's secured with a metal crimping. I believe the new XPs are rated at 99% @ 21 microns.

This is what Wix's website shows. No reference to a test standard, but it's probably ISO 4548-12. Since it's a Mann+Hummel product, they probably have specs sheets (which won't be given to the public anymore), and wonder if they match the claimed efficiency. At $16.99 for these, I'll stick with the MicroGard Select or Carquest Premium.

This must be old info on efficiency on O'Reilly's website.

Next time just grab one of these instead while you are in there and you will be all set up with a better filter for less:

The two opposing sides are quite different on the spacing. No way I'd pay that. I certainly appreciate your sharing it here though as it does show what they look like for this new "Resin" model.

What is that pleat spacing on the one side? The louvers look really good though. My biggest gripe will always be pleat spacing. Thanks for the cut!

The value of a filter is the media. All the rest is just there to contain it and manage it. So when you see a filter with really wide and irregular pleat spacing on the media, that to me says poor quality. Reminds of some Baldwins with mile-wide gaps between pleats and a pittance of media area.

Go find the C&P of the Pentius UFXL for a striking contrast in media density and pleat uniformity.

Thanks for the c&p. This new WIX is barely above a jobber 5k filter - that only by the addition of the silicone rubber ADBV.

Another brand dead to me. What a World.- Arco
I'm going to be stick to Carquest EPs and Microgard Selects for my vehicles until something better comes along. At this point, the $17 price tag is just paying for the name.
