New tool thread

Icon flex head ratchet & bit set was on sale yesterday only for $25 at our favorite Chinese import tool store. It's small and weighs 385 grams on my wife's kitchen scale so perfect for my motorcycle tool kit. The quarter is for scale.

I threw the SAE allen bits out and replaced them with Wiha non security Torx T15,T25, T27 and T30, this seems to be a good little set for MC and glove box.

The weird double jointed Pittsburgh ratchet. I expect this to be a once-every-three-years "I'm a genius!" tool. I at least used a 15% coupon.

Used Snappy 106IPTMMA. Despite the dirt, dust, crumbs of food and slight rust on the tray (but no rust on the tools), they're in very good condition. Indeed, the dirt means they were rarely used because 1/4" swivel impact is not really an every day tool for most. I gave $150 which seems about the going rate for second hand. Since the swivels are all nice and tight, I was happy with it

Lol I also have that double jointed ratchet! I bought it after i finished a job with a regular flex head and the double joint would have been great. If i ever need it again i will be ready...

If they would just fit it with a head that isn't three miles thick it would lend more legitimacy as a limited access tool!

I'm hunting for the Husky equivalent (now discontinued) because the head is noticeably thinner.

I have been known for hunting the most useless tools and stacking them in the shed. But should I be hunting for this... Santaaa !!!

That offset ratchet would have been great for some tight locations in the past, but now that the battery stuff is solid I think cordless ratchets will make it obsolete.

Facom is serious stuff at serious prices. Less serious maybe since the got bought out, I loved them better when they were purely French, but they are still good.
This thing is an interesting concept. It's not some Chinese contraption. And you can use powertools with it as well.

"Facom AXS" on youtube gets you the whole video.
And "Test des rallonges de cliquets Facom AXS" brings you an actual test.
Might be fun multiplying a fast power ratchet times 1.6 though.

That's the older "Collared" style, Nothing wrong with that other than the newer style are a little slimmer, I Have 7, 8, 10, 12, & 13mm..... Bought them individually & use them a lot!

I thought I was facing a wp job on an MK7 GTI (I know -- you're shocked) but that fell through. I ordered the crank holder and the rest of the "kit" just because it wasn't that expensive and I'd like to have it in my inventory.

Now guaranteed to never have to do this job specifically because I am ready!!

Not a bad job on that car, the bolt on the balance shaft can be a bit of a bugger to get. You really don't need that timing chain set with the pins for Audi actuators. It does help to get the thermostat housing and pump as a unit.
I buy a lot of VW Audi special tools here, they are often cheaper than even ebay.

All I wanted was the crank holder. Everything else was just there. I know the sq drive to extend length is awkward, but considering I may use it once or twice, I can get by.
