New tool thread

Grabbed these at HF over the weekend. Nice pliers for twenty bucks.

Bought Ridgid's new subcompact 3/8 impact gun last night. Worked with it all day today, used it in wheels, brake calipers and brackets, and even replaced upper strut mounts on a Honda Pilot without touching my 1/2 gun. Very impressed
Glad you posted that because I was eyeing that Rigid up the other day. All my current tools are Milwaukee so I would have to go different batteries but I think just 2 batteries and a charger would do me fine with the Rigid. I also gotta say the Bauer tools have been pretty impressive too for the price. Not sure how long they will last but I got a few to keep on hand.

Finally got my Lisle 37960 from Tooldiscounter. Was willing to wait because I got them for $28.75 shipped (prices have since climbed a bit)

Also a 13/16" magnetic spark plug socket because I recently needed it on a Polaris 300.

And a "pilot screw screwdriver" for ATVs and motorcycles should I need it some day (the 300 does not)

Ive been using that impact every day since I made that post however many years ago and its still one of my favorites. Ridgid power tools can take being used in a professional environment all day every day.

I don't have any Teng but I have not heard anything negative about them. I have some of the Tone stuff and so far it is holding up well.

I bought the socket set and a bit set from them, these are the first Teng Tools I have bought. Heard of them a couple of years ago, a Swedish company with tools made in Taiwan. I have never seen any of thier things first hand, but they looked good in pix, I wanted to see for myself. Now that I can see the tools up close, I'm happy with them. They are very good quality, I'm sure they won't disappoint.
Tone has a stubby 1/4 drive ratchet that has a square drive on one end, it looks good, similar to Vim Tools DD2 ratchet. I'd like to get either one of those eventually.

Not exactly new, but warranty replacement 2854 from Milwaukee. In hindsight, I think the original one stopped working because it fell to the shop floor from a height of roughly 4.5'. It worked fine for a few days then started making bad noises and locking up.

I also can't be sure the one I dropped was the faulty one because I have two that are identical in my service cart. There was no external case damage or other visual identifiers.

Anyway, Milwaukee warranty was great again. The service order said "Too costly to repair -- replace"

Snap-on XFRM705 double box end ratcheting wrenches, Wished the EZ-Red/Platinum/Mountain/Matco set I bought would've worked out for the long haul....Or if I had a decent Matco dealer I would've bought them for the no hassle warranty.

My Snap-on rep gave me a good cash discount, But they're still quite expensive ;)

How are these holding up for you? They have a new version, XFRRM705, that has a reversible lever.

Scammers, I bet it ships from snap on later this month. They may be nice but no way in hades would I pay $800 for them, $520 school student price might be okay but it is still a lot of wood.
Yeah I've got the ubiquitous Carlyle/Kabo/Mountain/Icon et al.

The button gets bumped, the beams are too thin and the spline drive is kinda annoying. That said, they work "pretty well" and it's difficult to justify an upgrade when I already have something that pretty much fits the bill.

Since mom is away this weekend me and dad hit every parts store in town and going to ones in other towns tomorrow. Didn’t get any tools at Advance or O’Reilly today but did at Auto Zone and Napa. I got the sockets at Napa because you can’t find 1/2 drive 6 points anywhere it’s all 12 points. And I use those sizes all the time and wanted more Carlyle Tools anyway. Then a NOS Duralast socket from an Auto Zone that I hadn’t been too in a really long time that’s deep in the hood of my town lol. Then went to another Auto Zone too and a few others and at one of them I picked up this pick set. I snapped one of my Harbor Freight orange handle picks today working on dad’s truck. They are junk anyway. These were $10 I think. I’m thinking that they are rebranded but not 100% sure.

I love it when mom goes away with her archery team for tournaments lol. Nice little break. Looking forward to more stores tomorrow. Hopefully we can find a more friendly Napa store. The two in my area act like your a burden unless your a commercial customer.

Ignorant of portable band saws, I quickly ran into the limitation of the 2.5 inch model cutting 3 and 4 inch bars. Solved that with a Hercules 5 inch corded model. I am invested with Ryobi, Dewalt and Milwaukee batteries and not really wanting to juggle a 4th battery type. This was on sale with their parking lot sale, but had to wait 5 days due to out of stock, but Friday was lucky when a shipment came in. Getting the stand soon.
