New tool thread

Milwaukee 2967 Gen 3 High Torque Impact. Gotta love those HD “sales.”

Per TTC on YouTube, there is a significant improvement in power:

The size is finally more reasonable. I have it placed next to a 2962 for comparison. Both units are wearing the HO CP 3.0 battery:

Unfortunately, it is still too large to fit into my cordless tool holder:

Milwaukee battery promo pack: one M18 12.0 and two M18 compact 3.0's. Not a bad deal at $279 in-store right now. I almost surely could have done better a-la-carte on ebay with kit takeouts but I guess I didn't care.

SnapOn PPCL60AK punch set. There's a newer BK suffix that appears identical. Not sure what changed but these are new and (we hope) it's pretty hard to screw up a pin punch design.

Couple new things today. Was going to post earlier but had to keep resizing the pictures so finally got them to the right size. Snap-on man has been sick so hasn’t been showing up but he did today. Picked up some needle like files and a magnet because I always break the magnets so I need warranty ones and this one was a cool color. Finally a slow day otherwise my boss doesn’t let us go to the truck or he will get impatient after 5 minutes and call us wanting us back inside. Haven’t got to go on any truck in 3 weeks lol.

I bought this Facom 17mm socket wrench at Amazon Global Store, for a grand total of $17.86. Manufactured in France I believe. The long end has a 6pt socket, and the short end has a pass-through and a 12pt socket with "OGV" (Facom's version of flank drive). It is surprisingly comfortable to hold. I don't have an immediate need for this tool, but it will be useful in certain circumstances.

It's my birthday 🎉, so I chose to wander the AutoZone clearance isle (I lead such a riveting life 🧐)
I thought a radiator hook something I should own
Imma make a run at Lowes with these cheap Knipex deals 👀

hey Micheal! Happy Birthday!! 🎂 oh a radiator hose hook, to pry it off the radiator's neck? Oh that's awesome, usually I have to take a razor blade to cut it off the radiator's neck, and being careful I don't cut the plastic neck. I guess I don't have a life either, I go to the store I'm always looking for the clearance section usually on an end aisle cap!

A couple weeks ago I wound up down a rabbit hole on Klann compressors. I don't know why I care except that I like tools -- the odds I'll ever wrench on a vehicle (like a Mercedes) that would require such a compressor are extremely low.

Just the same I ordered an import copy on Amazon after passing up a damaged Klann on ebay. Then I wound up speaking with the ebay seller and he realized the tool was in even worse condition than he thought. I offered $25 and he accepted. This weld repair is horrific. I plan to grind it out and redo it. Also this cup has deformed where the two teeth engage:

So I have a new import and a used 'n abused real Klann. It may be an entire table of scrap metal. Curious what @Trav thinks.

I feel like the distinction of West Germany speaks to age:

Also there appear to be two versions of the Klann, and this all appears to be the "lesser" or simpler model, so I don't know if any of it's likely to be useful anyway? But hey, I got to acquire some new tools so I'm happy (until a spring pops me in the face and kills me)

Nothing wrong with spending your birthday looking at (or buying) tools! This may lead to dirty looks or complaints from SWMBO, but much less than alternative entertainment venues!

Hopefully your Lowes has some Knipex sales left...all three stores near me were wiped out the first day!

Bought this Chief .401" air hammer a month ago at Harbor Freight , for $113 with a 25% off coupon. It tested well on Torque Test Channel, making similar power as the Snap-on, MAC, and Matco, but having much inferior trigger control at lower power.

At Amazon I bought some Made-in-the-USA Mayhew "bits", for $85:

Klann is getting some competition from Gedore. $2698 for this:

Gedore KL-5501 B Stationary Spring Compressor - GD 3230503

Quick, easy, and effective compressing of almost any McPherson spring strut /shock absorber suspension leg available on the market, combined with maximum safety. As the spring is compressed via the upper spring collar against the lower one, spring shape or spring pitch do not play any role.

Fits particularly for right or left rising springs, conical springs, eccentric springs, springs with a low number of coils, springs with a high or varying spring pitch, spring struts with tension stop springs as well as for spring struts with electronic control and sensors.

I did not know they were together. But they seem to be selling spring compressors under both names. I received an email today from Palmac informing me that the compressor in the photo was showcased at the recent SEMA show and was being discounted from the usual price of $4576, down to $2698.
