New tool thread

If one likes tool truck stuff, you can typically find the BluePoint kit on ebay for minimal investment. That's what I did but I work on so few front wheel drives that I haven't had a chance to use it yet.
Was in the middle of the job. Need to get the car in for an alignment tomorrow, so, hate to say it, I got this tool at Harbor Freight. “Maddox”. Never heard of the company, HF had it in stock 5 miles away.

Johnson 4’ level. Unfortunately not US made, but 0% 3 month financing on the ‘Zon made it a decent buy IMO. I needed one and it came in the same day.

Maddox is just a made up brand from HF. Best quality and many times made in Taiwan. Maybe a Matco copy? Their air fittings are “Merlin” and comparable to Milton. Lol

Yeah, I reckoned it was something like that. But it worked well.

Made in China in very small print on the box, so, not happy about COO, but I needed a better solution right now.

I bought one of those under similar circumstances, the one I was using has 3 cups and usually works well but on this car it would not grab. It was the weekend so it was time to punt and go down to the horror freight.
Seeing Made in China put me off too but without too many other options I bought it and it has been a good tool, other than the COO I cant say anything bad about it, it appears well made and it does the job without any fuss.

I see the OTC, Lisle, and others are identical and also Made in China, I would guess probably from the same factory.

Exhaust removal pliers. I have to replace the muffler and tail pipe on my Escape so I needed these. Not something I had already. Someone bought them, used them and returned them so I managed to get them more than 10% actually because they seen my uniform and gave it to me at my shops cost. This is a New York car so I made sure I had some good cutting wheels for the clamps too. Replacing pretty much everything as it’s just so rusty and the tail pipe broke off the muffler a few weeks ago but I haven’t been able to get parts. The only place we could find the kit here was Napa special order and they sent one from Kansas City which got lost so then they sent one from Sacramento that finally made it in yesterday. I would prefer to do this at home but it’s so much easier to do at work on a lift. Especially when I recruited a new hire who wants to learn more I’m gonna walk him thru it.

I've had a set of these for years and they have come in handy several times. Not used much but it can be a lifesaver when you do need it.

Discovered what "spud wrenches" were good for with tractor attachments, regretted not buying an adjustable spud wrench previously, but instead found a 1/2 and 3/8 spud combo ratchet wrench which has a hammer head. It feels pretty hefty and has a similar low tooth count to my 1/2 Proto ratchet. The gear is exposed, so it can be greased externally. It even has a hole in case I need to use it as a temporary lock pin, in a desperate situation. Love these heavy duty ratchets.

Say this Hyper Tough oil drain pan I bought at W*M looks similar to a green Flotool pan I have:

It's got the same graduations all the way up to 20qts max.

It's because it is. Just had to black out the name. It sells much less than at the auto parts place I guess because of the black. Now I have color coded drain pans.

Stacks nicely together too. No 'corner-cutting' here.

Bought this the other day during Amazon's big two day sale they had. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CDNYB274?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

I have been wanting to try an Autel based scanner for a while and this was on sale for a decent price plus I am a member of a FB group that lets people test different Automotive diagnostic tools for free or at a huge discount so I got it for around $188.

It seems to do as much as my Launch based Thinktool Pros does so far.

Expensive day on the Snap-On truck:

All three ratchets are quick release.
1/2" Extra Long Flex Head
3/8" Long Flex Head Chrome Handle(this will go in my mobile kit)
3/8" Long Flex Head Comfort grip. I actually dislike the comfort grip, I have a screwdriver hard handle on order to swap it with.

And the small size of slip joint needle nose I've been after for about a year now.

StopLoc collet stop. Meant to set the stick-out of work on the front side of a collet. I have some pieces I make in my collet closer where this level of accuracy may actually be fine

Similar to a small sliding square but the angle body will rest on round stock much better.

Stumbled on this brand new Tekton 1/2" bit set on marketplace last night. I wasn't looking for such a set but was glad to get it at $50CAD, retail is $200CAD and it will fill a void in my tool box, my hex sets only go up to 10mm except for a couple that I've made when I need them in a pinch. This set goes to 19mm and in typical Tekton fashion, no skips. Plus I had almost no large SAE sizes.

Wow, that was a heck of a buy!

Got the Hercules 1/2 cordless brushless drill with the Jacob’s branded Chuck. Used the coupon cost like 83 bucks for the kit with the charger and battery

Bought the icon long wrenches the ratcheting box end. Used the coupon makes them like $180 for the set. These are becoming harder to find under the different names. Snap on recently came out with their own set but they are $800. That’s a biiiit steep
