Snap-on finally showed up after a month. His truck was down and had to get a new transmission. I finally got the picks I ordered a month ago. And then got some quality vise grips finally and of course gotta have socks. He said he can’t keep any in stock cause everyone wants them lol. Was going to get another pocket screwdriver but I’ll wait till next week to bug him on that. He is supposed to get my screwdriver handle in that is warranty. And the picks are pearl blue the lights in the shop make them look different.

Snap-On socks? $50 a pair?

Technicians are drawn to tool vans the way kids are drawn to ice cream trucks. Whenever Snap-On – or any of the other brands – pulls up, nearly every tech drops what they’re doing to run outside. I remember being enticed myself when I was in my early 20’s.

• Only buy what’s needed: There is a lot of enticing, shiny new equipment onboard the tool truck. It’s easy to get sucked in, especially when everything can be bought through a credit line. But techs need to remember: they’re in the business to make money; not to collect tools and rack up bills. So, only buy what’s necessary to get the job done efficiently.

• Stop being brand-biased: Being brand biased is inefficient; regardless of whether you’re a technician addicted to Snap-On tools, or an aspiring fashionista stuck on Louis Vuitton purses. Sure, Snap-On makes a great product, but middle-grade brands, such as Craftsman, are usually sufficient for most jobs. And for tools that are rarely used, it’s wise to downgrade even further to a brand like Harbor Freight.

Just out of curiosity, if you dont mind what did they charge for the rebranded Malco grips?

Knipex Flush Cutters

The price of these has kept me from buying a pair as I can get 3 pairs of Kleins for the same price, maybe 4. After using them tonight to do a heated wiper install they seem like they are 10 times the flush cutters the kleins are.

I only get about 2 months out of a pair of kleins doing automotive work so will have to see how these hold up. They seem very well built like most other knipex tools.

A added bonus if you have XL hands these are really nice since they are a 5” rather than the 4” size that most other similar types of flush cutters, can actually use them without cramping up your hand.

Received the spark plug sockets discussed and recommended in this thread. Made in Japan and shipped from Japan, arrived about a month or so after ordering. All I can say is WOW. The quality is at a level I have never seen. Competes in quality with a Rolex watch...
