New tool thread

Gearwrench kneeling pad. Couldn't find where I left the one I had so I had an excuse to buy a new one. The parts holders, one of them magnetic will be useful if for no other reason than to keep track of which side is up.

I can thank Trav for this purchase. Super happy he posted this diagnostic tool. Most of my vehicles have eight or more cylinders, and over 100k miles. Very expensive to replace coils. This tool may help me identify coils as they start to degrade, but still marginally functional.

Home Depot had DEWALT DCF899M1 Cordless 1/2 in. Impact Wrench for $249, with a 4.0Ah battery and charger. I had to walk out with it. Not sure why the web site is at $299, might be a good thing I just went to look thinking I was going to get the Northern Tool deal on the Milwaukee 2767-22, $369 with 2 - 5.0Ah batteries and a charger.
DEWALT 1/2 in. High Torque Impact Wrench
SPECIAL BUY! Milwaukee M18 FUEL Cordless High-Torque Impact Wrench

Watching many of these video's taught me enough to understand why not to cheap out, as the hammer size and quality will probably be the difference in performance did it for me. The guy test and charts the performance of many impact wrenches. Made me want to spend more...

The Matco wear house was not open Thursday but the door was open so they sold me stuff anyway haha. I had 5 minutes to get whatever I wanted. So I picked up some things $268 for everything. I’ve needed a screw gun for awhile so now I’ve got one. Everything was too good of a deal to pass up. The door panel set was $22. Flaring set was $34. Impact sockets 1/4 in the maroon case $66. Screw gun was $100 exactly. Then of course I had to spend money so I bought a $6 keychain lol 😂. I feel I got a good deal on everything.

What is the giant hook used for?
It’s good for really getting leverage trying to take a door panel off. Because you can push up on it with lots of room. Not sure exactly if there is a certain type of door panel it’s for or what but I know that style has helped me a lot in the past.

That is some nice stuff.

Tekton 45-Degree Offset Box End Wrench Set, 6mm - 32mm

For my good friend and mechanic. His tools tend to “walk to other carts“ in his family shop. He texts me with what he needs, I buy it for him - and keep the 10% discount for the help. In the past 8 months I’ve bought him over $600 of Tekton tools. He says they’re as good as anything he has used. Time will tell.

Like Clinebarger, Trav and others the tools get worked HARD. Last week they had a Saab, and MB engine out, and replaced the cats in an A8L.

Three new tools arrived yesterday.

Interior trim tool that Trav loves, Mercedes "star" type lug bolt remover, and the very pricey ($50) Mercedes emergency brake spring service tool. That $50 tool looks like a three dollar tool, but read it is critical to have if servicing the electronic emergency brake on some later model Mercedes.

...Interior trim tool that Trav loves...
I tried adding that tool to my Amazon order today, but it is out of stock until the end of December. There are probably 10,000 of them sitting on a container ship, in the unloading queue near the port of Long Beach or Los Angeles.

I bought these pliers from Zoro, Proto thin nose made in USA. I think they are made by Wilde tool. They were inexpensive with the usual 20% off. Used them today, like them.
Then due to my heater lever loose inside the dash so my heat is always in the middle summer or winter, I bought this set. It may have the same metal pry tool that comes alone, not sure of the size yet. I know I can use screwdrivers and kitchen knives for one job, but maybe I will need to pry on other things another time. Maybe it isn’t the best price around, I get tired of looking sometimes.

Picked up a set of Tekton flex heads with QR.

My only other flex heads are some SK for more specialty situations, one is a stubby and the other is a bent handle “spark plug” ratchet.

They seem OK, the mech is good, feels close to my 80t snap-on’s. Still getting used to the flex head, it did come in handy in the first few min of use thou, was able to get to a bolt head without going to get a additional extension.

The QR I’m not a fan of, have to push it quite a ways in and still have to kinda pull the socket/extension off compared to my SO were they very positively release the socket.

All that said im still happy with them for the price, all three for around $100 CAD.

I have a set of locking GW 90T flex heads coming also and a ko-Ken to try out.

Once you get used to that style of wrenches you wouldn't want to be without them, they are a staple in every Euro toolbox for good reason.

All nice tools! Seeing you guys get all this nice stuff I have an itch that I need to scratch in the worst way. LOL JK most of the stuff I am buying right now is not very interesting but necessary replacements for worn stuff like taps and drill bits.
