New tool thread

Nepros NBR390AFL 3/8” drive flex head 90 tooth ratchet; 390mm, 15.38”

Yes, I lost my mind.

It is exquisite in the hand. Extraordinary machining and finishing.

I’m sort of hesitant to use it. God forbid I scratch it.

Surprisingly the back drag is a higher than my beloved Ko-ken 3/8” drives.

I have a couple of their ratchets, I hear ya about the thought of scratching it. ;)

Replaced 2 cheap tape measures with 3 new Lufkins that all have the Nite Eye (high contrast) tape. They are super easy to read and feel great.

Got some Home Depot gift cards for my birthday, so I just ordered these Makita 1/2" SAE impact sockets to add to my small but steadily growing Makita tools collection. Paid way more than I normally would for them, but the gift cards ate it. Should last me a lifetime. If I ever find a Makita metric deep well 1/2" impact set, I'll probably pick it up.

Does finding an old tool you thought was gone forever count? Lost these a few years ago. Turns out they were under my Jeeps hood. View attachment 261957View attachment 261959
I love finding forgotten tools! Over the past couple of years, I found my Craftsman pass thru socket/ratchet set and my Craftsman C3 1/2" impact wrench, both of which were in storage and I had forgotten about.

More random pawn shop stuff. An OBD cable of some kind, a tiny hammer and a GM Northstar wp wrench -- clearly listening to our mentally ill members such as @14Accent has gotten to me

If anyone knows what this cable would actually be for I'm all ears

That cable is an OTC J1962 Smart insert Cable CAN/OBD-II Smart Insert Genisys Mac Mentor.....or something like that.

That's hilarious, I actually gave away my Northstar wp socket when I left the shop, I let my "protege" have it. I figured he had a lot better shot at using it again than I did, I think I used it twice in 15 years. Then again... I wasn't planning on playing Russian Roulette with another one, yet here I am.

Luckily, the WP in the '95 looks like it was replaced relatively recently, along with the belt.

Managed to haggle with the seller and got this for under 170 after tax. Not a complete steal but less than on the truck or website. I favor these bent spark plug ratchets for usual maintenance, brakes, oil changes, etc. I have a couple jcpenny(sk) and champion ones that see a lot of use.

Matco 2885 2" grinder kit. $80 out-the-door at pawn (used)

I already have a Sunex (now discontinued) and CP, both shown at top....but I have a particular job where these are necessary so I like redundancy.

As fancy as the Matco blow mold is, it's so impractical and has to go in the trash

Picked up a Corghi ET66 balancer and Coats 1010 for $800, which seemed reasonable and was 10 rural miles from me

I'm open to any input from "good deal" to "those are junk." I know nothing and hope they work ok. Figured ya gotta take a chance eventually and this seemed decent and very close to home

The 1010 is a real old timer, we had one at the trade school in 1971. Super reliable and solid as a brick toilet not very friendly to chrome and alloy wheels. I know nothing about the balancer, I never used one by that make.

We have a Corghi tire machine and everyone hates it. Finding parts is a pain because apparently anything that lists "fits all Corghi models" excludes ours.
