New tool thread

The wheel hanger stud is a good idea...sometimes I make one, then forget I made it. Fiat and Lada had a pin to hang their steel wheels on, all other Euro cars don't. Tis annoying, and one day I'll make some and label them !

Yes my alfa 155 came with a pin you put in a bolts place aswell.

Warranty replacement Craftsman ratchet I got this ratchet in a box from the pawn shop a couple weeks ago. It’s frozen up I’m going to grease it and see if it will fix itself. They told me the raised panels were on back order and they would not be making them anymore after that so they gave me this one instead which is ten times better. They offered one of the other style ones too but I wanted the Gunmetal one. I think Craftsman is trying to earn back their customers base which so far for everything they have done for me they have. Satisfied customer here. And this is Taiwan made as well.

That’s for sure they are good to you. Craftsman is coming back better than ever. Made in ROC Taiwan, a nation friendly to us and our values, versus PRC, is a huge thing, for me at least.

Yep 👍 for sure. All the people at work love my Gunmetal 3/8 ratchet they always ask to use it. One of them even bought themselves one. I really like it. I have more stuff to warranty too but I’m going to wait a little bit I don’t want them to think I’m just someone trying to get free tools.

I like the raised panel better, look and see if you can find a rebuild kit for it.
I agree completely! The gunmetal finish is nice but I prefer the old-school raised panel...it matches all my older Craftsman stuff!

I currently have six raised panel ratchets, half of which were frozen when I got them. Just disassemble and dip the parts in acetone (or spray with carb cleaner), dry with an air compressor, and fill with SuperLube.

I don’t mind the raised panels but they sure do hurt my hands when putting a lot of force on them.

I hadn't noticed that, but usually use the breaker bars for heavier stuff (although those are also raised panel). I'm not a pro so maybe I'm just not using them enough to notice the edges!
I do a good bit of diy. But nowhere near being a pro. I don't turn wrenches all day, so there is probably a lot to what AutoMechanic says about comfort with the socket handles.

All purchases today. I purchased the “pop rivet tool” as I call it for those annoying plastic pop rivets that all cars seem to have these days everywhere. I bought that one for home since I wanted to make sure that spot in my home box was filled. Plus I like having extras of everything. I purchased the 20mm to fill in my set at work. Plus this is my first Carlyle tool I’ve been wanting to try them. Since I’m a Subaru tech now I probably won’t ever use it unless I’m working on a Ford or something. The 11mm socket is to fill in my set as well. Sadly made in China but I don’t think it will see much use anyway. Now the only ones I need to fill in my work set are a 25mm deep and 26mm shallow and deep which I have at home but don’t want to break them up to take to work.

The 24mm I got for our brake cleaner cans that we fill up since we get it in bulk plus I needed an impact one anyway as I have chrome already. It is Taiwan made. The Napa stuff I got because Craftsman didn’t have it and I wanted to check out the new Napa in town that’s closer than the other one. They are slow but it is a nice store and a ton more tools than the other one.

Also got this rebuild kit for my big 30 inch Matco which I realized had a split pawl in it after a few times of playing with it.

More never can have too many…
Stahlwille long 75 deg offset box wrenches, 6-22, 21 skipped. Pic shows 7 there are 8. 20-22 was out of the box.
$70 through Amazon. I really like the understated chrome finish, feels just right, very smooth. Not polished more than needed. The wings around the box ring are very wide which is a sign they are strong. I guess there is no warranty coming from the UK or somewhere. Maybe there is, I won’t need it. Thanks to posters here for talking about them. Never owned one before. Seems like a bargain compared to some others.......
Saw the above post in this thread about a month ago, and it piqued my interest. I checked the price two weeks ago at the Amazon Global Store, and the wrench set was $99. Too high. Checked again the next day, and it was down to $69.15, plus $4.15 import fees. I placed an order and the wrench set arrived 4 days later from Amazon-Spain.

This Stahlwille set has an "industrial finish" that looks a little rough in some of my photos, but does not feel rough to the touch. As long as it does not chip, and demonstrates excellent resistance to corrosion, I will be 100% satisfied with the finish. The box ends have "AS-Drive" which is Stahlwille's version of flank drive. The edges of the beam have a broad rounded profile, which makes them feel a little more comfortable in the hand than my other wrenches from Hazet, Craftsman, GearWrench, and Capri.

I have a Crasftsman torque wrench with a missing plastic lock ring, probably 20 years old. Lowes now sells Craftsman up here. Has anyone tried to get Lowe’s to honour a “Sears” Craftman tool Warranty? Thanks.
I don’t believe torque wrenches are lifetime warranty. But I have tried at my Lowe’s and I think they just plainly don’t know because they were wanting a receipt from when it was new at Sears I’m like I don’t have that. They told me they couldn’t help me then. So I recommend going directly through Craftsman to see.

I decided to buy a Speed Wrench, aka Speeder Wrench, to honor my deceased father, who had one in his tool supply in the 1960's. It was $18.87. Made by Wilmar Tools.View attachment 67232
If you use this just once you will find you will use it more often then you might think!

I have a couple of these a large one like pictured and a small size.
