The fun part is getting all the maintenance up to speed.
When I brough mine home just over 3 years ago, it had 58k on it, it had a CEL the previous owner thought was the gas cap. It turned out to be an evap canister solenoid, which was cheap and fortunately, I have long arms and was able to get up underneath and reach up around the drive shaft, IIRC, to replace it. It took me awhile, but I was motivated to save $200.
So heré´s all I did....
- Oil/filter change (Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 but now running Mobil 1 0w40 Supercar)
- Fram paper air filters to replace the K&N drop-ins previous owners had used.
- Windshield wiper blades
- evap solenoid
- harmonic balancer
- transmission fluid (Mobil 1 ATF)
- serpentine belt.
- hoses
- coolant drain/fill
- clutch fluid swap (a little at a time with a turkey baster)
- rear diff fluid (AC/Delco LS diff fluid specified for this application)
- alignment
- balancing of tires.
I also gave it a good detailing. I did have to use some Eagle 1 Nevr Dull to rub some corrosion out of the chrome on the wheels. That stuff is amazing and made them like brand new.
I added a Pioneer head unit with wireless Android Auto/Apple Car Play, as well. And now this car is perfect.
I wish I had the clear top like OP. That is the one missing thing that I´d like to have.
Next up will be brake pads that produce less dust. It´s still on the factory pads and they have plenty of life left at 68k miles, but I hate the dust. The previous owners were super easy on this car, according to the brake pad life left. Tires are the Continentals and they have plenty of life left. I really like them. Not the best grip in the dry, but they are good enough (fun to slide the tail around) and they are superb in the wet and last a long time.
I´m hoping sometime in the next year to take it to the Tail of the Dragon in NC, the Triple Nickel in Ohio, and The Snake in Eastern Kentucky for some fun drives. Oh.....and soon....the Corvette Museum and part of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Btw, this car was delivered to it´s first owner at the museum. It has the commemorative sticker inside the door jam.
@ls1mike tell us what all you are going to do and post up pics along the way! Looking forward to seeing it come along!
