Ok, good to know on the gearing. I swore I read the Z51 had a higher ratio. Of course, what could be done with it? It can´t get all the power down off the line with 3.42, anyway.

The Z51 did have different ratios in the transmission but if I remember correctly it was just that first and second had shorter ratios to get off the line quicker but the top gears were the same and 6th gear was still 0.50 to 1

One thing that really helped my MPG back then was using non ethanol fuel. It sucks that I can’t get it anymore because it was worth about 3% better economy

I have a Sunoco nearby with 91 octane ethanol-free, but it is $4.99 a gallon.

We were spoiled up here for a long time because Costco sold ethanol free premium and it was the cheapest in town by a lot back then. A couple of years ago everyone who was selling ethanol free up here switched to 10% ethanol

Last year when I was looking for a 'Vette, it had to have a manual transmission. I went for a clean, low-mile last year of the manuals 2019 owned by a team owner I had worked for.
