New to Diesel HDEO - Ram 3500 pulling RV

For the Rotella users. This is what I saw at Rural King Sunday. Is it similar to T4 white pail Rotella?

@wwillson is running HPL in his Duramax diesel, pulling a big trailer, with excellent results. Outstanding cold weather performance, by the way. He’s got a lot of posts about pulling his Airstream in the Rockies. You might find his experience useful. You might find his other site useful.

Since you live in the warm South, I would NOT run a 10W-30 or 5W-40 in that rig. In Texarkana, it won't get cold enough to consider these thinner oils.

Run any quality 15W-40 HDEO and quality OEM, Fleetguard, Donaldson, or Wix filters concerning oil, fuel and air. Do these things and that wonderful truck will run a long, long time.

Please follow the maintenance schedule as outlined in the owner's manual, or the OLM, which ever comes first.

You may wish to have two or three OCI's oil analyzed to get a feel of its effectiveness and the engine's performance. Post those here and let the experts comment on the results.

Enjoy that BIG and LONG setup!

I can tell ya all day about PCMO, but this is a new realm for me.

We pull a 44’ fifth wheel across 3-5 states every three months and wife uses the pickup as a daily driver.

Truck is a 2017 Ram 3500 LL with the 6.7L. There are 80,000 miles on it.

I assume synthetic given the circumstances, and capacity is 12 quarts I think.

I should probably find a good filter too. Ideally all at a good price, but maybe I’m wishing on a star.

Thanks everyone!
Z, Cummins specs using a 15w40 motor oil that meets the CES 20086 standard... they also publish an oil certification list but in general, any 15w40 will do fine... basically whatever is cheapest works as well as the hind end boutique stuff.
