I stumbled across @himemsys thread that combined a bunch of PCMO VOA in one spreadsheet (You can find that sheet linked below). I figured it was such a great idea that I decided to also put one together but with HDEO (Diesel Oil).

If all else fails with rear main. Throw 1 quart of 20w50 in it vr1 or mobil 15w50. Yeh the high mileage stuff helps seals for sure. But its a bandaid. Id say thicker is better. In an older jeep like that hell id run straight 15w50 mobil. Has similar zinc levels and thicker so that it wont leak past seals. Its cheap. 25 for 5 quarts. Excellent quality. But you do you

Just tossed this stuff in one of my Jeep 4.0 XJ, after noticing a slight, but concerning noise I suspect is lifter noise. Suddenly in he past 3-4 years formerly super reliable 4.0 enginee have been dissolving lifters and camshafts, noted on the Jeep forums and youtube. Something us VERY wrong with modern oils in these old motors. Not sure which oil is most like old formulations. Dino oil? Which one?

This is starting to feel like when taking the lead out of gas trashed millions of valvetrains.

Of note, this oil did eliminate the noise. Not sure what is really going on.

You might be on to something. The lifter and cam problems are very wide spread among newer engines also. And the new roller lifters seem to be worse for wear than the old flat tappets.

I personally only run 15w50 in my Mercedes benz 4.7 tt that calls for 0w40. It runs so much smoother and quieter than 0w40 water oil. I like oils rated for diesel/gas than solely gas. A lot of the the turbo gas guys run 5w40 t6 or Valvoline premium blue. Anyways. I have 4 gallons of 15w40 super tech now. Going in ford eco boost 2.7 tt and merc next change. Will update UOA later on

Best to speak to the individual lab you intend to use about any important tests you need. So long as you're not extending your intervals BN should hold up just fine. ULSD helps here as well.

I've had problems with walmart's online stock accuracy with supertech products alot, ive tried to buy 80w90 in a gallon twice now for pickup and it says out of stock... then i go into the store and theres 8 gallons on the shelf!

Thats weird. I buy this oil online no issues. Got 16 quarts for $60 bucks shipped free to door. Sometimes you gotta go in person

The required HT/HS of that 40-grade oil hardly qualifies as “water”.

Going to do bmw 335 diesel 3.0, ford eco boost 2.7 tt, and a 4.7 tt v8 benz. I have run diesel oils in my gas cars before with very good results before. This oil is SN rated so gas engines is fine. I was an avid user of Valvoline premium blue 5w40 in these cars for years. Just seeing if this oil lives up to its hype

You may not need the 0W rating, that’s correct. But there are other advantages including that Euro oils in that grade generally carry demanding approvals and use superior base stocks to achieve the 0W rating. I’m not saying the 15W-50 is a bad oil but without the proof that an approval demonstrates you don’t really know it’s better.

If you like that it’s quieter, sure. But to reject an oil with multiple approvals just because it has an unneeded winter rating isn’t based on performance.

I agree. Im doing a UOA on the 15w50 Napa(Valvoline) when i drain here soon. See how it looks. I had the euro 5w40 in the ford eco 2.7tt this time around. I know euro spec oils have different formulations and use better base oils typically.

Hey there brother. Did you get a UOA on this oil yet? From looking at it , it seems like a better oil than Valv prem blue FS and mobil delvac 1 fs well.

Hello, I plan on using this in the garden tractor but haven't used it yet. It'll be a while before I get there. It appears to be an excellent new option. When I do I will be sure to post it in the appropriate forum. Thanks

Yeah, let us know how it goes. I was surprised that the viscosity went from 15.1 to 13 in just 4.9 hours in the tractor mower but I set the engine at 3450-3550 RPM's.
