New Quaker State and Pennzoil @ Walmart

"Go longer between oil changes". I thought Pennzoil never really pushed "extended" OCIs and pretty much always said to follow your manual.

They're trying to get through to folks who still think oil needs changed 3000-4000 miles no matter what the automaker says.

I thought so too but I'm glad it's not. I just paid $28.00 at AZ two weeks ago. I would pay a couple dollars more there and avoid Walmart but for $8.00, I'll go to Walmart.

SP/229.5/A40 in the same bottle and at under 20 bucks...pffft.
Soon brand of motor oil won't matter at all. Just another commodity.

Not sure about the VII levels in these Euro oils for DI engines and intake valve deposits - will be sticking to the QSUD 5W30 and Valvoline Advanced 5W30 synthetic oils for that reason .

I think Quaker State Full Synthetic is replacing Quaker State Ultimate Durability. I don't believe you will be able to get QSUD anymore...at least it isn't showing on QS website.

Same oil, different packaging perhaps? Seems to be what a few companies are doing as of late.

a Honda owner to pay a GM royalty fee on motor oil because it has the Dexos spec. f we're buying Costco Kirkland "Syn" for 11 bucks for 5 quarts, the fee may not be too onerous.

I think it is a trend in right direction. Full Synthetic = Plain and Simple. The other names are full of fluff and mystery.

For most of us, very true. But you’d be surprised (well, maybe not!) at the things I hear people say in the oil aisle while shopping, they see that kinda stuff and it’s like a dog drawn to a fresh bone!
