If that is listed as an "economy" filter, I never seen a Fram looking like that and I have doubts it being genuine. What does that filter fit?

Looks like the version of the OG Ultra without the black grip coating on the end.

I would have no problem running those if I knew they were stored in a climate control environment. They were my favorite back in the day on my Cummins. Bulk packs sold cheap on Ebay.

I still have som WIX filters from right before the M&H downgrade happened. I want to say they're 2016. I keep them in the garage, but they still seem fine. Only have a couple left. I have no issues with them.

Depends on how they were stored, I've noticed in some of the older stock ones I've used that look good (no rust, etc), that there is a smell of degrading rubber or off gassing glue or something after about a decade. I believe most of these FPS filters were produced around 2013-2014 time frame and they just sat because there isn't really a market for up selling premium filters at quick lube places.

It's probably an old image that hasn't been changed but you'll get a newer version
No, I'm pretty sure they discontinued these years ago at least since the First Brands take over, I've seen them on and off on wholesaler closeout on RockAuto over the years. I'd expect most of them are around 10 years old , you might get lucky and get some that are only about 8 years old, but they should all be old style Ultras.

Echoing other responses, I believe these are akin to older Fram Ultras and were a premium product intended for shops. The 2014-ish date of manufacture also seems correct. I bought a stash of about 50 of these in FPS5 size for the ‘85 GMC van I used to own. The filters seem pretty well-built to me… the “economy” classification doesn’t seem correct. While I sold the van, these also fit my Gremlin and ‘63 Caddy. Great filters, especially at the $1.04 each I paid.
