I don't buy it.....
If my 2.5 liter V6 had an 8 quart sump i would be in heaven! I can't help but think twice the oil = twice the life. It makes good sense.
So, would changing out one quart every 1500 miles and filter changes after 4 quarts give less wear than a full change every 6000?
Now this is truly another anecdotal post, but I too, fastidiously changed the oil in my 97 3.3 V6 Dodoge. Every 2-3k, like I learned as a kid.
And it started buring oil at 80k miles.
Does that prove something? Absolutely NOT.

Great topic that should make more than one to think. Do I really need to waste oil by doing 3000 mile OCI, or should I try to do twice the distance, backed up by an UOA. I don't understand why you waste oil, and at the same time you all know that you are dependent on oil from Iran, Iraq, Russia and others. ????????
Makes me think running my oil filter for two oil intervals is perhaps a good idea!
If it fails on SynLube, we would not just buy you a new one we would want the
"failed" engine just to find out what happened, since we have never had that
opportunity (to see any engine that had ANY problem)

This is how I'm doing things. I do however & FWIW dump the filter when re-using it.
Or, Wix. That's what I'm using, and after a run of 7500 miles I got a used oil analysis. Left the filter on. Did 8000 more miles and got a used oil analysis....you guessed it...at the end of 15500 miles with the reused filter, the used oil analysis was better compared to the used oil analysis at 7500 miles.
Yes, Ugly3, they have a guarantee. Like all others, they will have to cover costs that can be proven to be oil-related. Another positive guarantee they have(no other have this one), is that if you don't like how their product performs, you can drain it and return it for a FULL refund(not only their motor oil, but all their products). I have only been driving it now for two days and some 200 miles, but I like the way it performs. I would like to say more, but I'll wait, untill I have more miles on it.
Another thing you guys should considder, is this: Synlube have almost 13000 customers(many of them have several vehicles). If even one of them had any il-related problems, I think we all would have heard of it by now. People are very strange this way; If we find a problem, we cry out loud. But, if we find a product that is outstanding, we tend to keep it to ourselves. Synlube doesn't have a big marketing department like Castrol or ExonMobile, and they also doesn't organise their bussiness like an MLM(like Amsoil). They also have great service.
