These "service champ" and "milegard" filters are a joke. I see at least 1 or 2 a day on KIA's. They are nearly have the size as a KIA oem filter. They feel like a tin can as well. Hyundai/KIA filters are stout filters with solid silicon drain back valves. I cant see why anyone would not use them.

On my sorento I ONLY use OEM filters, my dealer charges $6.50 cant beat it.

X2 on kia and hyundai filters being top notch

As I read the bulletin Champ/(FF) is saying nothing wrong with filter. If over pressurization occurs something could be wrong with H/K engine/pump oiling system. Oil pump relief valve?

And the filters listed are the correct applications, not the downsized ones I've seen posted here that are as much as two application sizes downsized in consolidation. In fact I found the specific example where the two sizes down OF4266/WPH2876 used by a quick lube on an Elantra.

Excellent post! Thanks OP.

I've been using various aftermarket filters for some time now on three Hyundai. Never an issue.

I read the Service Bulletin as saying the two filters listed in the bulletin will withstand the oil system's max pressure and can be used.

Why do I read this as "Service Champ and Milegard filters are designed to withstand burst pressures of 350 psi but in actual usage they're occasional pieces of **** and you'd be much better off using the OEM or a better quality filter." I think this might be closer to reality. Are there issues with this happening to the Mann Hummel Korea OEM filters??

I read the bulletin as saying the subject Service Champ filters are OK to run on the Hyundia/KIA engines with over pressure concerns.

They say in the bulletin that they can withstand 350 PSI, and also say:
"Engine and equipment manufacturer’s warranties remain in effect when using Service Champ filters."

There is nothing in the bulletin to says NOT to use the subject oil filters.

Does this mean you dislike Fram Extraguards also?

I dislike Fram Extra Guards when they cost $5.67 at Walmart and the Hyundai/Kia OEM filter costs $5.70 at the dealership.

What does a Hyundai/KIA filter have to do with a Fram Extraguard? If your implying that they are the same , you are mistaken.
