Neo has announced 0-40, 5-40, and 15-50 oil. Interesting, they skip the "W" in the nomenclature.

I think Neo synthetics are Ester based. They contain Pb also. Neo Geo VOA Thanks for the update.

I personally wouldn't touch that oil with a ten foot poll.

Maybe we should pole people?

But seriously, we don't hear much of Neo around here. I think it's popular with drag racers.

I have a feeling that the new NEO oils are going to be fantastic,,remeber they been a game player in the syn. lube field a long time,,though they are not the largest company and it cost lots of $$$$ to get approved for various manuf. but still maybe very capable in their functions,,,,,,,BL

Back in the 80's, even the major oil companies held the philosophy that in order to improve an oil product's performance, they needed to thicken the product. Paul Baker realized that what was needed was a stronger product - not necessarily a heavier product. He took his existing oil and experimented with some of the additives available at that time. He saw a new direction in the development of synthetic oil for racing and automotive applications - thus NEO SYNTHETIC OIL was born.

NEO and the Motorsports Industry

Success in motorsports is a major part of NEO's past, present and future. The 2-cycle oil NEO developed for Mercury Marine helped bring Betty Cook her two world championships. NEO has also helped set land speed records - including the fastest Harley Davidson (set at Bonneville). NEO helped Dale Armstrong engines set their hall of fame records.
In addition, over 50% of the European Formula 1 cars use some type of NEO product, and NEO helped the Draco team win

I used to race 3-wheelers back in the 80's. I was sponsored by Neo oil.

Unfortunatly I could not keep my engine together on the stuff! They recomend that I run it 100:1 in my 2-stroke racing ATC. I began to have piston siezure problems immediatly.

I dropped it down to 50:1 but was still having problems so I droped it down to 32:1 which I couldn't really test because it was a plug fouling bike now!

I poured the rest of the oil/gas mix out and went back to the oils that were well known like BelRay MC1+ and Golden Spectro.

I never really had anymore engine problems after I switched from Neo oil.

I may just be a fluke but to this day I refuse to use Neo oil in anything I own.

NEO is diester based synthetic. I do not like an oil that makes hard for me to tell if my bearings are wearing away. Neo uses lead in their oil and it would make it almost impossable to tell how your bearings are doing! Their oil is really expensive at $10 a quart and up!

I have not used their products even though I hear good things about their products! They have been around a while and really hit it big with their thin oils a long time ago!

Having built and raced muscle cars/high performance cars for over 30 years......allow me to respond to the post claiming this stuff is used by the drag racing community.......
Not a chance in **** pardner.....Only people I know that would pour this crap into an engine rode the little bus to school......

I think the better oil companies divulge the most information about their oils, and the not so good oil companies want you to know the least. Getting information out of NEO, even basic information about viscosity, is like pulling teeth.

Schaeffer's, on the other hand, tells you everything about their oils--including the basestocks.

In order to have good, bad, or many UOAs, people need to use the oil.

It'll take a bunch of UOAs to convince me that this oil is good or bad.

Neo needs to merge their old/new websites, get with the program, and get the oil out there even if it has to give free samples out to someone willing to VOA/UOA its oil.

Torco/Kemopro/Synlube are other companies that have products without enough UOA/VOA data here.
Vegetable based lubes are also unheard of here.

Lots of judgement

Does the four ball wear chart represent a list of the major players in the engine oil market that compete with Amsoil?

I remember NEO being used in air cooled VW engines in the 70's. Not me, though, it was too expensive.

LarryL,

All except Redline and Royal Purple, which are two of the better independents....

Ted

ps: I'm running the RL/WW now, with a mix of 37.5% coolant and 62.5% H20. Seems to be working as advertised in the Audi...
