For some reason I find this very hard to believe.
My experience is that once a certain age gap develops,
A. Guys get better at chatting up women, and
B. Women feel more at ease with men because they know that Nothing is Going to Happen!!
Neither one necessarily constitutes intent or possibility.

In concert with that, women of like age have already experienced their worst mistake. They've seen it all before.
btw- if you've never been married, your downside limit is pretty low. Most men are married at no later than 26 and many much sooner. It's the same for women. Both are in very high demand.

I have found this to be true.
I have been married for a long while.
I am very happy with my wife, and have no interest in leaving her.
It utterly amazes me that women of various ages are sometimes highly attracted.
Very flattering.
Currently, I am being flattered at work by a married woman fourteen years my junior.
If I had known thirty years ago what I know now, college would have been even more entertaining than it was.
OTOH, my wife tells me that she is glad that I didn't, since she found me more attactive as a naif.
I have been married for a long while.

WRT the ageing brain, it has enough knowledge and experience gained over the years to compensate for the slower processing speeds, I think.
Anyway, when I was in my early twenties, most thoughts were not directed by the brain between my ears.
