I had bought a logitech gaming mouse in 2012 or 13, and have used it very sporadically. Last night out of nowhere, the mouse started working on and off. The red light would sometimes stay on, and depending upon how I messed with the wire, a few inches along from the mouse.

I'm rather disappointed... I have the same mouse at work, and it has been great with far more usage.

The issue is that the wire is super thin and there is no strain relief at the mouse or the USB end.

So, I'm in the market. I'm thinking of going back to Microsoft. My Logitech travel nice have been great. But I've never had issues with Microsoft optical mice.

So, recommendations??

I love the old Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical. The ones that have been around since the 90s. Comfortable and quite durable. Unfortunately, MS stopped making them a few years ago

I also love the original MS ergo keyboard.

MS mice and keyboards are generally very good.

I really liked the Microsoft Intellimouse but it was discontinued. When I looked at current Microsoft mice the choices are either really cheap mice or wireless.

I'm using a Steelseries Sensei mouse. The shape is very similar to the old Microsoft Intellimouse. I love it and the only complaint I have is I had to spray some PTFE lubricant into the scroll wheel after it started squeaking a little.

do you want wired or wireless?

Logitech has some great wireless mice but their
current top end mice are look goofy and kiddy.

I loved their G5 and g500 series their replacements are terrible.

I cannot have any wireless devices in my work computer for security reasons.

Yes, the original optical intellimouse was great.

Have to say I love my Logitech mice, I use Ebay to find my favorite the G400s.
They come out of Korea as the G400s is discontinued (at least in NA). As stated above, the new Logitechs are way too goofy for my tastes.

I bought this mouse sometime in 2000 or 2001!
It's very basic, but it's comfortable for my hand and never skipped a beat. I did some very heavy gaming with this mouse, predominantly online, very fast paced first person shooters. It survived college duty (wireless mice were just appearing and very expensive) being in the laptop bag, taken in and out all the time. And it was dropped countless of times. It's still used to this day in my desktop.

You may not want to get this exact mouse, but IMO, MS mice are quite durable.

I bought a Gigabyte M6900 for my home desktop built in Fall 2011. Liked it so much, I bought one for work shortly after as I found my wrist bothering me after a day at work. Since switching to the M6900 and Microsoft Ergo keyboard, I've had no wrist pain.

The M6900 is a big mouse and fits perfectly under my hand. Has programmable buttons and three resolution settings depending on how fast you want it to fly across the screen.

I'm sure there is something newer, but this thing has worked well, and shows no signs of age. And it was only $35 iirc.

This is the mouse I use daily. It is hands down the most comfortable and reliable mouse I have ever used. It is at least 11 years old and used primarily for gaming.

I've had good luck dealing with Logitech support and most of their products come with a 3 yr warranty. Im guessing you are past the warranty period, but it wouldnt hurt to contact them and let them know you are disappointed..who knows they may replace it for you for free. Give it a try if you liked it.

I've been using the Logitech m500 with my office PC for quite some time now. Good mouse overall.

The old MS Intellimouse Explorer was also very good.

Logitech mice I've used for last 10 years

I've been using this Redragon Mouse for the last several months and have loved it! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HTK1..._1_1&sr=8-1 It has buttons in the right places, and is very comfortable in your hand and doesn't feel undersized. Hard price to beat and has a warranty if you fill out the information on their website after purchase. The cord is wrapped in a "braided like" fabric type material that is resistant to ripping and tearing up at harsh angles and has the rubber at the ends to resist damage. The cord itself is also very long, but easy to shorten up with the velcro wrap around piece on it. I actually carry this around with my laptop because it works on most surfaces, but I can also use it with my desktop when at home. Hard to beat at 14$ plus it looks cool! If you like to game, I've used this with CS:GO, TF2, and HL2 with no problems, but it's still a great mouse if you just need it for day to day or work purposes.

Features listed as:
Adjustable up to 2000 DPI, 4000 FPS, 15G acceleration and an Avago sensor, Omron micro switches
6 buttons, and an 8-piece weight tuning set (2.4g x 8)
Durable smooth TEFLON feet and contoured body for ultimate gaming control. Quality ABS construction and two programmable side buttons
6ft high-strength braided fiber cable, anti-skid scroll wheel, and red backlighting
Package contents: CENTROPHORUS Gaming Mouse, tuning weights, and user manual

Logitech LS1 Laser Mouse won't go back to optical. I like the fast controlled response and has excellent laser accuracy. One of the better laser mouse. You feel you have complete control. Some mouse tend to control the user not this one.

It's a basic no nonsense mouse without the bells and whistle. Less whistle and bells less potential problems.

Best overall mouse I've owned.
