i'm curious as if i am using the best oil/filter combo for my car. some details.
the car is a 95 toyota camry with the 2.2l 4 banger with 89k miles, i am the second owner. the first owner took good care of it and changed the oil about every 3k miles according to her but, when i got the car the oil was very black. shortly after getting the car i changed all the fluids, the engine oil became black again within ~20 miles of use. so i began changing the oil and filter every 1k miles until the oil remained clean for a reasonable time. back then i just used what ever was cheap (super tech oil/fram filter) once the oil was clear i began using mobil 1 15-40 in the summer and 0-30 in the winter /w a pure one filter. my oil now stays nearly clear until around 1500 miles. right now i'm changing the oil around 2500 miles because it's winter and around 3500 in the summer. i use no oil additives and about half a bottle of marvel oil every other tank. i installed a oil pan heater and let the car warm about 5 to 10 mins before driving depending on temp.
suggestions?
