Hello! Im planning on doing a full 4x4 service on my 2001 ml430 and I know my car takes 75w-90 gear oil for both differentials but I have 80w-90 supertech oil lying around, I would like to know if its ok to run this oil. Ive never changed the differential fluid in this vehicle, so is putting in the 80w-90 oil better than leaving the original 180,000 mile fluid in? Any advice would be apreciated

I changed my differentials at 90K, the fluid still looked brand new. Ill never change them again. I'd just change the transfer case and transmission fluid. I'd worry more about changing brake fluid and antifreeze than axle gear fluids

Yes. Definitely.

Are you changing the transfer case and transmissions fluids as well?

Yes Sir! I ordered a transmission oil change kit with a gasket, filter and febi bilstein oil (8 quarts) the oil rating from Mercedes is 236.14. And for the transfercase Im just going to buy dexron iii synthetic atf.

Thanks for all the great information, I asked the same question on the MBworld forum a month ago and still haven't gotten a reply. You folks are awesome.
