I need a little over four quarts of gear oil to change the front axle lubrication in my tractor. Rural King has two gallons of their house brand Providence 80w-90 conventional gear oil for $36. I’ve used their motor oil for over a decade without issues so I’m confident their gear oil is equally good. Is there any reason to splurge on synthetic oil for this? Kubota just specifies 80w-90 gear oil with no mention of conventional or synthetic.
Is there a better deal out there on gallon+ quantities?
