I bought this car and took delivery of it a week ago today. It is a definite improvement from my Saturn. Its flavor of choice is 0w20!

I got 28.5 mpg on my first fill-up with 80% highway at 70mph although it did idle quite a bit the night I first got it. I hope to get 200,000 miles or more out of this vehicle...I plan on keeping it for a long time. I put on about 18,000 miles a year.

The great thing too is that the spin-on oil filter is vertical and I should be able to change the oil without having to jack the front up.

I have no idea what the FF fill is, but I suspect Motorcraft 0w20 as it is built on the same line as the Ford Mustang...although Mazda says they recommend Castrol in the manual.

Nice car! Manual too! You're going to need to change your user name now.

If you continue to do 80% highway....M1 0w20 is a great choice....and a great oil. M1 5w20 would also work great

IMO....an OCI of 9,000 to 10,000 would be easy on M1 0w20 or M1 5w20..
Suggest you move up yo a high-tier filter....such as M1 EP.

I almost bought a silver one...and I'm glad I didn't. This color was my first choice (Comet Grey Mica) but I decided to wait a few weeks for a dealer trade to get the color I wanted...up in Albany, NY. At night, under light the car actually looks electric blue/purple and in the evening it looks charcoal grey.

Sorry I forgot to post...this has the 2.5L 4cyl motor with 170HP. I couldn't even begin to fathom what the optional 3.7L 6cyl 272HP is like...

This 2.5L loves the higher RPMS...in fact the engine has a slight lugging feeling below 2000rpm (where my Saturns was around 1500 rpm). Unlike many other cars I've driven, this motor feels confident and strong at higher RPMs and it is quiet enough where you don't get disconcerting feeling from mashing down the go pedal. The upper of the 6 gears are geared close...in fact I find I can go straight from 4th to 6th when accelerating onto the interstate and only rely on 5th on long hills or rural road driving.

You got the best color - congratulations! Made in America, to boot.

I drove one last year and probably should have bought it (decided to keep the Camry another year).

That is a sweet shifting transmission. Did they change the diff gearing to get 30 hwy mpg this year (last year was 29)? I seem to remember it taching about 2600 rpm at 60 mph.

Routine maint should be a breeze (acc belt a bit challenging, though... pretty tight quarters).

Best wishes for a long reliable life from this car.

Nice car, thanks for the pics. If you decide to dump those tires in favor of more sporty ones, please let me know. They're the same ones that's on my Camry, and I like them a lot, even though most do not.

Again, nice choice. Beautiful car.

Should get to 200k easily with routine maintenance. Does the 6i have a timing belt or chain? And is it a 6-manual or 5-manual?

Nice purchase, I have a soft spot for Mazda's. The Zoom-Zoom is not just marketing hype. My '93 Miata is a little trooper, and I drool over the newer ones....someday....

I grew up in Upstate NY in a little town called Lowville. Tug Hill is filled with windmills now, pretty cool.

Enjoy the ride!

Very, very nice car!

I love the interior on those - very sporty and driver-oreinted.

One thing I would dislike on that car is the oil filler placement - why make someone reach all the way over an engine to add oil? Why not have it out in front? you're just asking to spill some on the engine!

It's a 6spd manual with a timing chain.

We had a Mazda 6 on our Hawaii vacation. It was automatic but had a sports mode. It was fun to drive.
