Stick with 0w30 ESP...it's claimed by many to be a bit better base oil than the 5w30, and therefore ESP has a bit higher HTHS value. As far as winter goes, there's nearly no difference between a 0wxx and a 5wxx.i am going to buy mobil1 0w30 ESP for winter but want to switch to 5w30 for summer.
does it make sense or should i just stay with 0w30 ESP throughout the year?
if I switch to 5w30 for summer, which is a better oil - 5w30 ESP or 5 w30 EP?
I as well found the M1 0W30 ESP very quiet in my Hyundai 2.4L GDI engine .Wow! It significantly quietened the startup clatter in a 2024 Forester to my ears. I used to cringe every cold-start of that noisy engine. Interesting that engines can seem to be so different.
Latest one I've seen is 8.4% per ROC (French sample 2024).Do we have a real Noack # for this oil besides it's less that xyz?
Is it $27 for 5qts and readily available at any large grocery supermarket store in America?Amsoil ss 0w-30!!
No thank you, HPL Super Car 0W-30 is better. Amsoil 0W-30 is very thin and will get chewed up even more. HPL will not only not shear, it will also gain a little bit of viscosity.Amsoil ss 0w-30!!
Plus it is a joke of a 0W-30, too thin. And it is Viscosity Index is over 170 which means it is full of VII's and will get chewed up and lose viscosity real bad.Is it $27 for 5qts and readily available at any large grocery supermarket store in America?
Thank you!
On the same site, I found this for the 5W-30 ESP. Noack 8.6%. One would have thought that the 5W would have a lower value.Latest one I've seen is 8.4% per ROC (French sample 2024).

8.6%Thank you!
Do you have the Noack for the 5W flavor?

Looks like Amsoil got chewed up real bad here and then started gaining some viscosity and that also due to bad oxidation thickening. And the thinng still end up at a lower viscosity than virgin. If this had been HPL Super Car 0W-30, it would have gained some viscosity on top of the virgin value of 12.
My HPL Super Car 0W-20 at 11,000 miles will look way better than this Amsoil 0W-30

Stick with the M1 0w30 ESPToday at WM , I saw M1 0W30 ESP on roll back for $24 for the 5 qrt. jug while the M1 5W30 ESP remained at $27. That is the best price for the best off the shelf 0W30 Euro synthetic oil I believe you will find currently … Interesting that the M1 5W30 ESP was not included in the WM roll back pricing (could be due to excess inventory of the 0W30 ESP ?) On paper at least , BTOG folks seem to believe the M1 0W30 ESP is the better oil any way .
He’s just making stuff up in those posts."then started gaining some viscosity and that also due to bad oxidation thickening"
Not sure that is a conclusion here. Quite the statement. Based on Blackstone even. Interesting. I mean are Blackstone's range values even correct? No. Show me the "bad oxidation thickening" for example.
You do realize Amsoil has high virgin oxidation due to the use of ester?Yes, bad oxidation. Oxidation after the oil is sheared to crap, is what I call bad oxidation.
