My guess is the Ultra XG version is the regular 2-ply media like all other Ultras. Here's a link showing the XG3976A.

The Fram link mentions the XG3976A does not have an anti-drain back valve and that is consistent with the C & P Bullwinkle did on the FPS 3976A. Perhaps that is why it uses a coil spring and not a leaf type spring.

Would have to cut the XG3976A open to see the internal differences compared to the FPS3976A.

I honestly, SERIOUSLY DOUBT that the XG version has a different element inside.
