LOL. I remember when VW told people in 90's: yeah go ahead, use any kind of oil for 1.8T engine.
They are still paying money for sludge issue to customers.


Those oils contribute to sludge?

They are conventional oils in turbo engine. Yes they do, since turbo runs very hot regardless of the way it is cooled.
 
You can do fine with conventional in a turbocharged engine, assuming it meets the requirements. One just has to be careful of OCI, among other things, that's all, and sometimes the OEMs aren't very careful about that.
