I wonder if my collection of Pep Boy's coupons will apply to these bottles? I'm up to 20 calendars.

I am looking forward to the new formulation. I still am leaning towards 6,000 mile intervals because of the big seasonal changes we typically get.

Some additional information regarding the new Mobil 1 Extended performance (15,000 miles or 1 year ODI). Additional additization: 36% more antiwear additives than regular Mobil 1: 37% more detergency than regular Mobil 1 and 50% more SuperSyn than regular Mobil 1..... And that special filters are not required.
Mobil 1 extended Performance oil will be available in 5W-30, 10W-30, 10-40 and 15W-40 viscosity grades in 6 one quart cases.

Nice...

I like what I'm hearing. I really like the viscosity choices. They will have the whole spectrum covered.

George, CLS: We really appreciate the heads up on what Mobil is coming out with. You know how this bunch wants to keep up with such. Without this site I'd be lost as far as oils are concerned. This has been an educational experience and I understand we're just beginning.

"50% more SuperSyn than regular Mobil 1...." Now I can quit compensating for this by additizing my customers M1 for the harder runners ! Bout time !

Wow...finally a 10w40 Mobil 1. When will this stuff be available in stores?

Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is SuperSyn™ anti-wear technology? One of the base oils, additives, or something else?

I just hope they select a reasonable price point for these new oils, otherwise I believe it will just encourage a big percentage of their customer base to take another look at some of the boutique/less well known oils like Synergyn, Redline, Motul etc.

Not exactly... there's no 20 weights!

I apologize, I did a typo on the the 15W-40 grade: does not exist. It should have read 15W-50...
And no Mobil 1 20W extended drain at this point. However, the regular Mobil 1 0W-20 has been revised to coincide with Ford/Honda owner's manual of 5W-20..

Do you mean it's now labeled as 5w20 instead of 0w20?

Its a high viscosity PAO type synthetic. Supposedly developed for Mobil 1 Racing program. It has an extremely high VII. Sorry for the meager information. I believe you would call it an additive bc it is a smaller quantity. Perhabs a blend of it

Looks like Mobil has done some hard progress and tuff to beat with it's price ratio. It's a no lose situation either way you look at it as motor oil is sooo much better today.

No apologies needed! I've thought that 15w-50 was the best of the M1 family...now it's going to get better! Can't wait to get my hands on some!

Mobil1 0w-40 meet VW 503.01 30000/2year oil change.

Extended Performance Oils

5w-30 57.2 @40c 10.2 @100c
10w-30 62.6 10.1
10w-40 91.3 14.2
15w-50 136.5 18.7

No A3 30wts there . A5's do just fine though .

It's interesting to note that both of the Clean High Mileage base oils are inherently biodegradable.

Have I ever said how much I like the Mobil HM oil , Mobil HM oil , Mobil MH oil , Mobil HM oil , Mobil HM oil , mobil HM oil

In Toyotas yes, in LS1s no. I'll stick with my A3 rated GC in my Corvette.

I have seen many a poor report with A3's used in LS1's . Also have seen both poor and great A5's in them too .

I have seen many nice 10.5 cSt API SL dino reports also and hardly ever a poor report with them .

Seems like an A5 went 18k miles in a LS1 awhile back

Now back to Mobil HM oil , Mobil HM oil , Mobil HM oil , Mobil HM oil , Mobil HM oil

Ironic that there won't be a 20 weight 'extended performance' version when the original M1 (aka 25,000 miles) was 5W-20...

I think this sort of marketing would get a lot of the 'non-believers' onboard. After all, look at how well Amsoil has done pushing their oils on the premise that 'oil analysis' shows that they are suitable for long drains.

Think of all the idiots unknowingly contaminating their sample by gathering it wrong, then getting back a "horrible" UOA...it would be an ugly scene.

You don't need an A3 rated oil. You need an oil that is made well from the ground up and it sounds like these new ones are. Lots of additives with a great base oil. A5's might actually have some advantages in cooling.

*If you go to the link Jelly posted on the MSDS for the new Extended Performance oils, they have the Mobil 1 5-30 GM @ 11cSt and the regular.
